Well done tbh :)

Come across your grp a few times when ive been in pug's etc & yup you hurt :( if im MA guess who i select 1st \o/ ...but MA+Pugs = Disaster!

Wizzys dont have much utility compared to other casters i agree, but then theres not any other casters than can hit over 1k (only time ive been hit over 1k is by fire wizzy's), if fire wizzys were brought up to par wit utility of other casters then they wuld clearly be op'd. Youve said it yourself, The wizzy makes up for lack of utility by dmg output & im sure you knew this before you rolled one & accepted it, so less excuses of running wit DI Bot! :p

& gratz again :)

Hmm, a taunt or a nearsight would do it :). Or maybe some kind of intercept ML9 pet.

if you are QQing/whining about adds at the place where i_rvsr takes part... then you are not smart tbh. You guys can argue over it for an eternity but Alaron can simply put an /ignore on anyone and do what he wishes.

He got a point there with that 3 lines, couse its fucking true sadly, all of it. (goes for ya aswell Straef:()

Grats on RR10 - utter retarded playingstyle tho. Comment about 'My class has no utility so I run with DI3-cleric + bodyguard' made me laugh.

No idea why wizard needs utility with the way you play - all you do is run to a fight and F8 + bolt/nuke.
for puppet, F8 doesnt work :'( its too far away for bolt range:D

and for Dorin, shows your lack of attention, Alaron has a grp daily, which always encludes Waffo, sometimes myself, mactavish and other GoP people or just random people who have asked to join:)

And Thad he isnt sulking, he continues to play ignoring the people that whine at him he's always in a good mood:), and many people like him just a couple get annoyed when he leechers, i just find it funny and i like his view you cant own enemies and their walking rps:p

and omg if i had a DI3 bot i would have it stuck to me:p
less of the 4 fucking bainshees in 1 fg and then your allowed to moan, and !!!less of the 6spot stealther grps ganking soloers, cmon that is just ridiculous.

and less whines!!! or it might be very funny to get some serious pyro packing in a grp:)

I remember wayback when eroda (or whoever organised them) ran wizzie-based grps in OF odins. Was pretty fun to fight. Ice wizzies in SI, fire wizzies post-ToA.

Dunno what the biggie is with a DI-bot, less useful than an active cleric...if u run across them duo most likely will be 2 kills for the price of 1. I wouldn't do it tho', give out enuff free rps as it is.

Anyhow gratz!

You know what Straef, tell me your reasons why you think not adding is good for this game? All I've seen so far is a load of hypocrisy, favouritism and egoism thanks to this unwritten "rule".

Example of hypocrisy: fg whines about getting added on by another fg, but happily adds away on groups of 3 or 4 people.

Example of favouritism: this guy/gal/guild is ok, so we don't add on them. That guy/gal/guild sucks, so feel free to add on them.

Example of egoism: fg fights enemy fg, a random group joins in and fg pulls out, knowing fully well that the random group will most likely die.
I might be one of the few, but I actually DO try very hard not to add, pretty much all the time. As long as the 3-4 people groups aren't in a fight already, they're still a threat, as they in most cases tend to add whenever another fg of the same realm appears. I don't leave anyone alone in rvr because I actually agree there, it's a retarded 'rule'. I've got plenty of people I like/respect in other realms, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let them be and get stabbed in the back for doing so. Neither do I add on people because I think they're wank, when they're already fighting, because the rest of the group may not be.
I don't find that egoism at all. If another fg adds on me, thus ruining the fight for me (however strange that may sound to you) I would pull out and let them die if possible, just to get back at them for adding on me.
You may find me a hypocrit/egoist, but I really don't quite agree. I just try to have fg-fg fights to see whether I can beet sg's/gg's with a pug, and when I do, I actually feel good about it. If I'd add on a fg or fight in a zerg, it isn't nearly as satisfying.
Alaron said:
Umm Thad, I'm not the one sulking about getting added on. I was trying to explain why I think the "don't add" rule is not actually helping the realm at all and I'm asking Straef (or anyone else) to explain why they think it's benificial.

It has something to do with trying to understand the motives of both parties in this discussion.
I never said I, or the realm, gain anything by not adding. The sole reason I try not to add, and I would like others to avoid adding on me is that I find it more fun that way. Surely there's nothing wrong with that motive, to enjoy myself?

No, there's absolutely nothing wrong with trying to have fun in a game. The problem arises when it potentially takes away the fun from other people. You basically want exclusive rights to any group you fight. Imagine a night when there are only a couple of highly opted rvr groups out and some albs form a random unbalanced and low rr group. This group will get rolled over whenever they meet one of the opted hib/mid groups. The only way they will have some fun if they get the chance to fight alongside an opted alb group. Do you want to take away the fun from them by pulling out or asking them not to add?

and your adding/zerging doesnt take away the fun for the opted groups?

pure hypocrizy....

if the randoms dont have a chance thats either cuz

a) they cba to get decent equip for their chars = deserve to get steamrolled by ppl who dont mind putting alot of efford in the game.

or b)they simply dont have enuff RvR expirience to compete with the good gg´s yet. this can only be solved by trying again and again and again and again till it works out better and not by stupid brainless zerging.

what you and your zerg does is: you completely ignore the interests of the ppl who play RvR serious (the ones who put far more time in the game (RvR part) than you. those ppl often also put more time in PvE aswell to get the best available artis/MLs for their class. As we all pay the same subs the ppl who put like 10x times more effort in the game (esp RvR part) have the right to ask others not to add etc.

i mean rly cmon randoms come in RvR once or twice a week and claim they have all the rights to destroy fun for the ppl who play EVERY DAY to improve their play. how ignorant can they be?

its like in sports you cant go there and say Hey Mr. Formel1 Champion pls drive slower so i can takeover the lead with my 1970 VW Beatle.....

i know this is much too high for the usual alb nooblet, but i hope maybe you can see my point as you have played in opted groups already. for the rest of the zerg just shut up and dont even bother to answer on this i cba to argue with you AGAIN thx

Its the persons choice how they play. Thats fine if they want to add/leech/grief people, it is a part of the game after all (Realm Verses Realm FOR ARTHUR!). Ifact people not adding are more likely to be breaking the rules of the game by not attacking there enemy :)

Believe it or not xianghua the universe DOESN'T revolve around you! Just because you want to run your fully opt hib group againt albion random groups (thats right, there isn't a guild group running atm on alb prydwen) it doesn't mean the albs wanna go back 1 at a time for you to farm over and over again.

In other words opted grps destroy fun for the randoms cuz they are so high RR (comes with effort) have 6-10 artis in template. (also comes with effort)
and randoms have all the rights to whine/add/zerg them cuz they are sooo evul.

but when randoms start to run in 3fgs+ to zerg the opted groups until they get bored and log cuz your zerg destroyed all their fun its ok?

cmon see a doctor or you will die irl cuz the hypocrizy comes out of your ears someday.

ofc its not 100% fair neither way but MMORPG´s always have been a matter of time and effort and the ones who put more time in it come first in line, kinda easy.

randoms can solve the problem themself, they just have to get decent equip some friends and a good setup and become opted themself. opted cant do anything against the zerg except log and wait till its gone. now where exactly is this fair?

if ppl dont want/ dont have time to build a opted group then well if they dont want = their problem, if they cant cuz they dont have the time then well can only say you have 2 options
a) accept that you simply dont have the time to get all the stuff you need or play everyday and accept that you wont be able to stand a chance vs the ppl who play the game every day for several hours.
b) quit your job/whatever and become a "pro" yourself. ofc this is not acceptable for 90% of the players which leads them to point a)

ppl who sacrifice alot of IRL time for the game simply DESERVE to be far better than the rest, end of story.

Ok, Bubble already responded to the rest of your post, so I'll just tackle this part.

Let's take my example, turn it around to see it from Straef's perspective and expand on it a bit. I'm going to introduce a variable called happiness. Put it at zero for both groups (zero meaning both groups are content).

1a. By adding on their fight the random alb group just took away some fun from Straef. His happiness just decreased by one point (happiness = -1).

1b. The random alb group just won a fight for once and their happiness increases by one point (happiness = 1).

1c. Both groups go their separate ways. Not much later the random alb group gets rolled over by another opted group. Their happiness decreases by one point and it's back at zero (happiness = 0).

1d. Straef's group finds this opted group and has a decent chance of winning. Either way he gains one point of happiness, because even if he had lost, he doesn't mind because he just had a good fight (happiness = 0).

Net result: both groups are content.

2a. Let me do the same for the scenario where the random alb group recognizes Straef's group and decides not to add.

2b. Straef's group fights the first opted group. He either wins or loses, but gains one point of happiness either way (happiness = 1).

2c. The random alb group gets rolled over by the second opted group. They lose one point of happiness (happiness = -1).

2d. Straef's group fights the second opted group. He either wins or loses, but gains one point of happiness either way (happiness = 2).

Net result: random alb group is unhappy. Straef's group is happy.

he pays the same ammount of subs as you do (or more since he moves with his DI bot :p) so he can play the game however he wants, either he wants to add/zerg/leech etc.

Funny stuff xianghua :)

So basicly your saying because a group is less equip than another group they shouldn't try to win by using superior numbers? They should play to suite your needs and not there own?
Spoil your fun? i'm sure you spoiled there fun after ganking them 4 times, logging when you get zerged? Feel free its your subs your paying.

Tell me Xianghua do your groups attacking soloers? Yes you do, you've killed me when i was solo. Why should the zerg treat you differently than you treat me? No they shouldn't, i was in a RvR zone and expect to die if i encounter superior numbers. If you don't like it, Fuckoff and Play Counterstrike.

cmon see a doctor or you will die irl cuz the hypocrizy comes out of your ears someday.

Maybe you should see a teacher and learn what half the words your saying means?

Just cos someone spends alot of irl time on the game they don't *deserve* anything - it's their choice - least of all the right to dicate how anyone else plays it.

Like saying cos I play chess 24/7 I have the right to win all the time or change the rules.

Opted grps have just as much potential to fuck-up the fun in a zone for peeps as a zerg. I can't see the difference.

That was exactly my point to begin with? By adding you spoil my fun, and I've been pretty clear about that. It's not like I'm the only possible person to add on, so by adding on someone else, you could enjoy yourself and let me be at the same time, so I can try have a good run.
I don't run an opted group myself, in fact, I never have. Last time I actually ran with a fixed group was back in Avalanche, about 1.5 years ago. I've only ran in pug's since. The thing I like about fg-fg fights against opted groups while playing in a pug myself, is sometimes managing to beat decent groups in fg-fg fights, while having a challenging fight.

i see your point but it has its flaws

usually from the pov of an opted group you have about 2-3 clean fights on a good evening (on zergy evenings you sometimes dont even have 1 clean fight in the entire evening) now if you give -1 happyness to the opted group for every fight they get added on you end up at something like -10 or more at the end of the evening.

meanwhile the zerg is at about +20 happyness cuz they added/zerged everything tonight

as i said before ofc its not 100% fair but randoms can just start to play the game serious if they get tired of beeing farmed 24/7 by the good gg´s

what can the good gg´s do vs the zergs? run 2fg´s? yes would be an option but most ppl in opted groups joined the guild for exact that reason cuz they dont want to run in more than 1fg. 2nd option is log for the night, which will most likely happen after they have been zerged enuff.

Oh you are a fucking twat arent you:S
Not everyone can spend every night or even day times on these games.
so basically what your saying is you've spent ages on your char/chars, the people who "cba" as you put it, could counter act your argument with, at least they have a life.

If you actually believe what you just wrote, then you are a complete idiot:S
i spent months on this game and my char was completely shit, the only reason he is fairly decent now is because of the great friends ive made, the guilds ive been in, and the time i spent doing raids and winning items. not everyone has quite the luck..

the game wasnt made for your opted FG Vs FG fighting, so now every alb or whatever who is solo or low rr gets caught in the fire and is labelled a noob or if they think they're just trying to help kill someone they often get screemed abuse at, and tbh it really isnt fair.

anyways as i said in my initial post to alaron i CBA to discuss this AGAIN, time has shown well enuff that most ppl on this forum are too narrow-minded to see the whole picture.

That's a pretty hypothetical situation, even tho it could be about right. Thing is, just like you just said yourself, that by adding on me, you cause me some frustration, and overall make me less 'happy'. So it's not like you don't understand that adding doesn't make me enjoy the game more, yet you do it, and make me have less of a good time while at it. If you'd add on other people, camp a bridge, join the zerg with other people who don't mind adding, you might win a fight without pissing off your realm mates. Doesn't that sound like a better solution?
Or, even better, you could run a group with a decent setup (class-wise) and play with the same people for a while, and stand a chance on your own.
