Noone was debating whether games "should" run at 72fps sjp. Cars "should" run at 150mpg, and everyone "should" have broadband internet connections. The point was, complaining that an average of 75fps is unplayable is more than a little lame considering we all used to do just find on 30.

But I'm not going to start this argument again.

Dokt, I've always mant to run benchmarks on all of my old cards to see how they measure up to current ones. I've got:

Matrox M3D (PowerVR PCX2)
Matrox Mystique220
Hercules Thriller 3D (Rendition V2200)
Read 3D Starfighter AGP (intel i740)
STB GlyderMAX II AGP (3DLabs Permedia2)
Diamond FireGL 2000 (3DLabs Glint 300sx)
Obsidian S-12 AGP (3dfx Voodoo2)
Diamond Stealth S540 (S3 Savage4)

I'd also like to take a peek at the progression of mainstream 3D chips. One of these days I'll get around to it...

um wot ever happend to butterfly shutters and projecting a film cell 3 times? indeed a film reel is 24fps but each frame is projected 3x to smooth it out. ie 72 fps final view.

could be wrong tho. been a long time since i had to learn that stuff :)
