Ghosts of Valhalla will be hosting a dragon raid this sunday. All attendees will be receiving a carreer respec stone and a realm abilities respec stone. Minimum levels are 50 for tanks, 48 for seers and runies.
All 100% items dropped will be lottoed with a /random 100 lotto. Only one drop per attendee. You can nominate a level 50 alt if if you do so at the same time as you sign up (the alt must exist on Duskwave). If you have to leave before the lotto you have to notify me along with your requested drop and I will /random for you. You can only roll for an item if your class can use at least 3 stats (regardless of spec). Non 100% items will be salvaged or sold and gold will be used to buy wood which GoV store at relic keeps.
We meet at Galplen at 14:00 GMT/15:00 CET. If you are not in Galplen within five minutes of that time you will be replaced by a reserve.
All attendees must have at least 26% slash and cold resists. Tanks must have either Determination 3 or Purge. Casters must have MCL. Some power healing potions will be handed out before the raid starts as well.
If you sign up for the raid you agree to the above rules as well as to obey rules decided upon by me at the time of the raid. Furthermore you agree to read and go by the tactics described below.

Part II: The Assignments
Bonedancer
The BD's task is to buff the whole raid with absorb buffs every 10 minutes. This is done by macroing every player on the raid with a /target macro. The following macro should be used to make all the small macros: /macro Master /macro %t /target %t
When the BD is not buffing he should be guarding one lair entrance (see tactics).
Shield Tank
The Shield Tank's task is to guard the Main Aggro Holder (MAH) with his shield.
Runies
Runies cast bladeturn on the MAH and should have a /target <MAH Name> macro. Darkness runie should buff all melee with damage add every 10 minutes. For this he should use /target macros for all melee - see the Bonedancer section. Runies do not attack the dragon in any way.
Shamen
Shammies rez the tanks and buff them. It's very important that end regen is the first buff they use. Shammies also buff resists every 10 minutes. Shamen do not attack the dragon in any way.
Healers
Heal the MAH and their own group with the smallest baseline heal. Use a /target macro to select the MAH. Rez casters and buff them, It's very important thatPoM is the first buff they use. They also have a part in guarding entrances, see tactics. Healers do not attack the dragon in any way.
Tanks
Tanks do what they do best, hit the dragon. It's important that they only use detaunt styles to make sure aggro stays on MAH. Detaunt styles for Mid weapon lines are the following:
Axe: Hoarfrost
Hammer: Placate
Sword: Temper
Left Axe: Use Main hand detaunt, e.g. Hoarfrost, Placate or Temper
Hand to Hand: Taunting Call
Main Aggro Holder (MAH)
The main aggro holder will be a Savage. Using taunt shouts, attack speed buff and melee resists buffs (the dragon attacks are slash only) he will constantly taunt the dragon. Evade buff has to be up too in order to reduce the amount of hits that get through.
Part III: The Tactics
The Savage in the aggro group will keep aggro for the whole fight, fully buffed using taunt styles and taunt shout every 30 seconds. With bubbles, a shield tank guarding and evade buff always up, he will not be hit very often. The hits that do get through will be partially absorbed by the BD absorb buff and with resist buffs the damage will be further reduced.
Arrival at Lair
The aggro group goes straight for the dragon. MAH will be the only one attacking the dragon at this point while the shield tank guards him and runies cast bladeturn on the MAH. The other two groups will take out any adds in the lair. During that the MAH must not be healed - if low on health he can use IP. When all adds have been cleared by Groups 1 and 2 their tanks can attack the dragon with detaunt only. At this time healing by shammies and healers is allowed using smallest baseline single heal only. Healers and shammies should only heal within their own group.
It is important that once the raid has entered the Lair, no one can leave the lair. Those close to exits must be extremely careful that they are still within the lair.
AoE Attacks
Gjalpinulva has two different kind of AoE attacks. The first one is a targetted AoE DD which hits a single player and all those around him. That player gets a warning shortly before saying that Gjalpnulva glares at him. At this point this player will have to sprint away from the other players. If a player is stunned and Gjalpinulva glares at him he must use Purge and sprint away.
The second one is a PBAoE that hits everyone close to the dragon. These attacks are not directed at any specific player but are triggered by health percentages of Gjalp herself. These are the warnings called out and the approximate health percentage:
All tanks are required to make the following warning macro: /macro nuke /c DRAGON NUKE INCOMING!
The Retrievers
At around 40% health Gjalp will pop her retrievers and send them away. These dog-like mobs run at speed 6 towards the exits of the lair. It is of uttermost importance that none of these mobs are allowed to leave the lair. If they do they will come back in 2 minutes with 12 - 20 very purple mobs that are impossible to kill with only 25 players and a healthy dragon. Therefore, at 45% health, two players from each group guard one entrance. Healers with insta CC will mez/stun these mobs and call for help within their group to have them killed (skalds are best for this due to speed).
AoE Stun
At around 20% health the dragon will begin to PBAE stun his attackers. This stun lasts for up to 30 seconds if not resisted. Here it is important that the MAH uses purge and has determination to get rid of the stun. At this time healers should move out of PBAE range in order not to get stunned.
Part IV: The Secrets
Some people maintain there are secrets to keep the dragon's AE attacks from being cast; don't use procs, don't cast spells, everybody has to be ungrouped. Those things are false. The important thing is that everybody knows their part 100%. The BD casts absorb buffs, the runies cast bubbles and dmg add, the tanks detaunt etc.
Part V: The Thanks
This is more or less a direct translation of this document written by Sanys Sil of Fedaykin on Mid/Dartmoor. Apparently this has been pulled of with 17 people too.

- 75-70%: Gjalpinulva takes another powerful breath as he prepares to unleash a raging inferno upon you.
- 50%: You notice the dragon struggle slightly as he takes yet another deep breath.
- 30%: Gjalpinulva winces noticeably from his wounds as he attempts to prepare for yet another life-threatening attack!
- 10-5%: With the small amount of energy left to him, Gjalpinulva unleashes a final devestating breath attack!
All tanks are required to make the following warning macro: /macro nuke /c DRAGON NUKE INCOMING!
