yay got my epox back today!!!
seems to work fine now

well, I didn't even reinstall [going a bit against my personal rule-set here] as I really really really really wanted to see how fast things were going to be
so I just plonked in the epox/athlon/512ddr and the rest of my kit and turned my evil black box on. Linux didn't bat an eyelid and booted, [duh] recognizing everything.
