Momento was the wierdest (and best) film I have seen for a long while.
Specially on DVD, cos in the features you can play the film the right way round.

Memento wasn't weird per se, just shot in an original way.
Well, not totally original, he did get inspiration from something. I forget what though, and I can't be arsed to check the interview in the dvd.
edit: ahh that was it. Angel Heart. So the film direction wasn't inspired by that, just the ending.

the boiler room was an excellent film. rather novel approach it had following the life of some illegal stock brokering people. saw it on the plane. then it came out about a year later so was nice to see it properly.

Channel4 showed this spanish film maybe a year ago, called 'The red squirrel'. Maybe someone else saw that? I was pretty impressed - About this minor rockstar who finds a woman who's lost her memory, and pretends to be her lover. He takes her our of the hospital, to a camp site... The film is pretty sureal. Or at least it was at 2am which is when C4 generally show any foreign films. Or any decent little-known films for that matter.
And let it never change, because late at night is the best time for all television! On the same note, they recently showed a film called 'Beau Travaile', which unsuprisingly is French. It was only a few weeks ago, and i must say, it was really good; It had an arty feel to it.
