Name some GOOD, weird movies, not anime please - live action weird movies

I'll start off with Ghost Dog : The Way Of The Samurai.


Its about a Black Guy in a big US city, who does jobs for an italian mobster who saved him as a kid, it reminded me a little of the tale of the ninja who's clients left him messages in a well, for the obscurity value

Shaolin Soccer

Weird as fuck for the Western market but undeniably superb. Kung Fu meets footie with great comic timing and pretty funky special effects.

God of Cookery

Ditto but replace footie with cooking.

Chinese actually.


Battle Royale is good but I actually consider it to be pretty mainstream these days and not really weird.


I consider Amelie weird but not particulary good and don't get me started on Korean films or we'll be here forever!

Way of the samurai was excellent (i own it).

But, Donnie Darko is the best wierd film i've seen in ages

I recommend you buy it on DVD as soon as poss....only avail on R1 but worth it

I thought Ghost Dog was pap. I got all excited by the description on the back of the film, which implied it would be cool, and when I rented it it was raging pap, and Kenny got all pissed off and now I get a lecture everytime I go to rent films because that was the shit film I rented that broke the camels back

Cube was cool. Not particularly obscure, but I liked it.

Well, if you enjoy Kubrick's films, then you'd probably enjoy Clockwork Orange. Personally, I'd still watch it to find out what all the fuss is/was about.

I want to throw an anime in, simply because it doesnt involve anything OTT and could have been filmed in live action, Perfect Blue, the last 30 minutes you dont quite know which scenes are real and which are fake

Amelie and a clockwork orange are two of the three best films I've seen ever!

I've seen Akira and 3x3 Eyes(well the first 2 parts then I couldn't find the rest) and they're kinda weird but also cool.

3x3 eyes is pretty good, the showed it on BBC2 at about 2am a couple of years back, its quite a good series.
