Warning ! Nasty virus out there...
[2004-27-01]
Good day everyone,
This morning, a new virus was discovered which is currently considered very dangerous and very nasty. The name of this worm kind of virus is : MyDoom and so far, all the experts are agreeing that this one could damage the internet stability.
First thing to do, make sure that you have an up-to-date anti-virus program. Then, check your anti-virus website to learn more about the propagation method of this virus (can learn more here as well).
You will receive emails, coming from totally random people (usually fake information taken from your contact list) with weird messages and an attachment. Do NOT open or check this attachment file ! Even if the mail is coming from us (which can happen since the name it taken randomly from the contact list of infected computers), do NOT open it. If you are infected, follow the removal instruction found on various specialised anti-virus companies websites and make sure that your computer is protected.
Second, and this will be a direct side effect of the virus propagation, there will most likely be very severe internet slowdowns in the coming days. You may (will) encounter linkdeads, lag and various other little connection problems. Just remember that we do not control everything happening on the net and that these slowdowns are to be expected.
Last thing, and this is important, if you receive such "virus email" and see that it's coming from us, it is not. As explained by various companies specialised in virus analysis, this MyDoom is "spoofing emails" and using random names to fake the "from" field of the email.
Be careful, keep your computer clean and protected.

Why do peeps open Emails from peeps they never heard of? .... here @ work we got 180ish already, and they keep popping in. Our Mailsweeper takes 100% of every spam mail, spoofer, trojan everything so far.... the funneh thing is that the Security guy @ work don't even know how to shut down port's on our FW ... tbh ... he is sooo st00pid, he shouldn't be in the position he is atm !!! ... and Im the one doing his job ! ... Im the one telling him about the viruses, telling him what to do about them, how they work, and what to do in the future .. and so far, not even _1_ Virus, Trojan ... NOTHING got through our Mailsweeper nor FW after I got here ... strange ... before that, they had to run around like screaming children and updating the virusscanners and removing viruses ... *shrug* ... cave-man technology!
I was the one that setup the Sweeper ... or well ... I was the one making the ruleZ for it it was already here, when I got here .. but it didn't really have any ruleZ on it .. only some really retarded ones
... now they got some consultant working on it once in a while, cuZ the security guy's supperior didn't like me doing HIS job... guess I will take over his job when my education is over
now .... Im just a poor student
