>>Bug exploitation by Bainshees

We notice that a certain number of Bainshees use a conic point blank area of effect spell though walls and keeps or towers doors, which put them out of range of their adversaries in RvR. Until this is fixed, we are asking you to tell the bainshees that these spells must not more be used like that. If this bug exploit continues, we will be led to take measures against the players who use it.<<

Mythic should just delete the caoe spells untill they fix the issues.

i think what goa are trying to say.

there is a difference between accidentally exploiting code such as shooting someone through the window of a keep and hitting his friends around him, to standing next to a wall knowing there are people next to it and coning like crazy straight through it.

Mythic introduces a class - ppl roll it make it ml 10 and toa it too - then Mythic/goa says you cant use it cause we didnt test it properly before introducing it to game society :p

What you're seeing is fall out from the whole water bug scandal

Basically its one thing to have Sanya publically talk crap about a player for using Water bug (then say oh but we banned him for speedhack) on the herald, but not even weeks before talk about how Casting through walls was a Bug but now talk crap about Bainshees

This is now a response to that instance, since it was brought up a million times over in the threads.

So banning ciliviel actually served atleast one purpose besides making Mythic look like dicks, it might actually remove some bainshees ;o)

Mythic`s screwup not to test new stuff in realistic rvr condititions. The players abuse to use mythic`s mistakes to their own best intrests.

Mythic being unable to drastically fix certain issues (baseline stun which should be in specline sun /baseline lifetap which should have a 3+ sec casting timer OR significantly lower damage /caoe which should have ae-dropoff /warlocs chambers which should have a 20 sec recast time (like bolt or qcast) between using, not just casting) without loosing a very high % of their player base who would quit when they loose their OP easymode toy, only makes things worse.

There is more stuff that needs nerfing than their is stuff that needs loving.

Well, tbh, bainshees attacks are sound, and sound can travel thru walls, so...

No it cant, Sound bounces off walls.

Silly they say its ok to use it then turn around and say errr ok dont use it. They rarely fully test everything they put into the game but if it makes you feel any better your paying their wages.... oh wait thats bad :D

havent used it since a long time and even then i just stumbled upon some of em (had my whine thread for that)
if u wanna know what u can report i'll say what i discovered to be bugs
- shooting tru towers, just next to side door
- bridges like pbae did
- walls like the graveyard in emain
dont need it for gaining rps
and the only uses for cone is zergs, pve and destealthing, costs too much for other stuff :)

well not really correct, if that would be, u wouldnt hear people in another room, the sound will be far less but aye it wont dmg anyhting behind a wall :)

That wasnt an opinion it was a scientific fact. Sound travels in waves. I was giving a scientific answer to a scientific statement by a smart azz :D.

What your getting at is that the reasons you hear people in another room is because sound is bouncing around the walls of a room and eventually making its way into the other room so the people hear but it could be distorted and the volume isnt aplified so may find it hard to properly hear it. If you were getting technical with a bainshee he could fire a sound wave at a window and it would bounce around inside the tower until it hit something.

easy solution for bainshees - add friendly fire ;)

I doubt anyone will get banned for aoeing at someone inside a keep and accidentally catching someone out of los...

however the ones that hide behind open tower doors and caoe the people outside or set up inside the milegates in agramon to caoe through the doors will probably get in trouble.

Before GoA or who ever made this statement.

On mid/pryd a bainshee killed me by abusing cone aoe bug or what ever through a wall. Even though i could not see the bainshee or even get to him i died.
I think if i remember right i took a SS and sent it to rightnow, and the reply i got was the class is working as intented since the dmg is (sound) based it is able to travel through walls and therefor it is a bug.

But now their asking bainshee's who play the class to stop doing this since it is a bug.

Im not sure if im on the right track but i think it relates to this post.

I agree with you completly. its biggest problem with daoc.

Mythic are not very good at balance.

I love the game still its a masterpiece respect to mythic for making so damn good, but they really dont have a clue class capabilities....(or they must have an idea but what they think isnt realistic)

Well, the "sound travels through walls" discussion is so very very very very very very very very pointless. This isnt real life you know.

I disagree here. From a design POV, the balance in DAoC is VERY good. Well, ok, let´s try to ignore the obvious slips like Warlocks etc. The classic classes were balanced just fine.
The problem is, that a game of the complexity level of DAoC is virtually impossible to balance perfectly. This, in combination with the fact that they need to introduce new (and new has got to be better = increasing the classes abilities) features to the class pool every once in a while to keep players playing, means that certain imbalances will always be there and the mass of players ensures that those imbalances will be detected and abused sooner or later.
If DAoC was a stand-alone game like - say - Diablo, then I´d agree with you, the balance isn´t that good for that legue of games. But for a continuing and progressing game, they´re doing a good job.

The problem is that who ever is testing the stuff in the mythic factory probably isn't playing the game 8-10 hours a day like many people here.
Game companies have proved over and over again that no matter how they test stuff, the power gamers will put 2 classes together that the testers didn't envisage and overpowerdness will be born.

How they missed warlocks is a mystery tho :eek7:

still, there's nothing wrong with coning through walls imo, seems pretty balanced!

No, you're right, this isn't real life... but in the same way you could argue that blades shouldn't actually do any damage at all... because this isn't real life you know.
And yes, sound can travel through walls, that's why I had to soundproof my recording studio. Perhaps the damage should be lower as some of the sound would have rebounded from the wall?
