Apparently Google have stated Gmail will remain free, especially because it employs their advertising. There is the suggestion that additional features may become a paid for option once the service comes out of beta (e.g. POP3 access, for example, where GoogleAds on the webmail service are avoided). I doubt this would really affect the service, however. Google has enough financial power to cover its costs, and their targeted adverts continue to draw in huge amounts of revenue, so I wouldn't worry too much about the entire service becoming a subscription-based plan (... he says, hehe, just a guessClown said:I can see them making this a pay service soon.
