Yes, I am one of the unfortunate ones that wear glasses. I went into the optician and the first thing my bloke said to me was "You play alot of computer games, don't you?"

I've had them for a few years now (I'm 19) And I'm still not used to them. I don't think more than 3 minutes goes by without adjusting them, or pushing them up my nose. I used to avoid wearing them but my eyes have got to the point now where I just can't see without them. I dread to think what I'll be like in a few years time.

Remember that Seinfeld episode when George lost his glasses, so he took to wearing prescription goggles around town? Genius.

It makes watching telly better, but thats about it.

I am worried about the morning I had my eye test, I had a migraine the day before then I got shag all sleep that night. I reckon most people wouldn't see right after that. My test was at 9.40am as well.

I know if I go back they will say I haven't given them time, but I don't wanna fuck my eyes up even more.

Stupid life!!

:(

Why not go to another optician without the glasses on, and have another eye test to get a 2nd opinion ?

After u've worn em for 6 months u can get contacts. Although if ur like me ur far too squeemish to get contacts after seeing a m8 in the playground in secondary school who every now and then would get his contacts stuck round the back of his eye and get karted off to the nurse wailing in pain.

I have difficulty focusing on text across the street or train departure boards at stations liek Waterloo, Victoris etc so about >10m. However I've had 2 eye tests in the last 3 years each time they gave me a prescription of +1.0 in 1 eye and +0.5 in the other. They basicly said it's up to me if I wanted glasses or not as I'm on the borderline (I never drive or I would definitely need them).

I do wonder though how much the fact that the eye tests were done on weekends after a decent nights sleep affected them whereas most of the time I'm tired during the week esp after work.

I blame it on using computers all day at work and then again in the evening as well :(

Computers knackered my eyes in the first place according to my optician. Mainly because I used to use big old green screen CAD systems back in the day, which may as well have had "burned retinas, guaranteed" labelled on them. The optician said it was almost certain this is what caused my eyes to deteriorate as a. no-one else in my family needed glasses at the time, and b. as well as going short-sighted, I also suffered from slight red/green blurriness, which is was a classic sign of green screen damage.

Well I've been to enough opticians (-5.5 in both eyes, I'm blind!) and every one has told me the "using a computer worsens your eyesight" is a myth. You just notice any existing problems sooner eg a headache means your eye muscles are working harder than they should have to, to focus.

I've worn glasses since I was about 9, and they're currently -4.5 and -7.75, plus variable astigmatism in both eyes, and getting worse. Every time I get new glasses they feel odd, but only for a few days. Although if it's your first ever pair of glasses I would imagine it would take longer.
If they're the wrong strength, I would guess you'd be getting headaches from wearing them. Another test is probably a good idea - I always tell my optician if I'm particularly tired, and he takes it into account.
Lenses aren't for everyone, but some people love them. Depending on what you've got (astigmatism etc) then there will only be certain types you can use. Your best bet is to find an optician you trust, and talk about the options.
