Clothing is risky.

There's always the chance of fucking up the sizes, either plus or minus.

Too big: "He must think I'm fat!"

Too small: "He's telling me to lose weight :("

So no, stay away from clothing.

Here is a crazy idea! Why not ask her what size she is in passing :D

Underwear always goes down well, I saved a packet at Asos with the 20% discount code etc. Think it cost me like £25 for 8 pairs for my, all sea-through and lace etc. La-Senza is also good but I couldn't find any Size 4 on there and Asos has loads of size 4 and is easy to search.

It´s even worse than that!
Women always know exaclty what size they need. Men don´t.

When a man walks into a clothing store, asking for a pair of jeans and the clerk say "what size", the man instantly gets his "how the fuck am I supposed to know!" look on his face.

Women are different.
Woman walks into a store, asking for a pair of jeans.
Clerk says "what size?"
Woman says "38"
Clerk wanders off, comes back with a pair of jeans size 42... fits perfectly.

I get that sweetie -but jewellery is SO personal, big no no unless they have requested something specific.

pffft, i used to always buy the missus jewellery. If you know their tastes it is easy. Infact it a more thoughtful thing if you take into account the need to know their style, what they got and what they need.

Mine always had different gems etc in them so it gave variety. Only problem is decent worthwhile stuff aint cheap :p

I still stand by my idea, she'll never forget that you took her to a fucking Transformers movie on her birthday. Sure it's not exactly going to be a happy memory but if she sticks with you at least her expectations are going to be low for the next year, where you can surprise her with something better(Transformers 4 maybe?)
