..anyone on this network? Is it any good? I want to move my UK phone (which I don't use very much) to a pre-pay and this looks...different anyway, especially as it seems to have a good data tariff.

Been with giffgaff since they launched the first week, I was fed up of 3's useless roaming connectivity and the increasing costs.

It's the O2 network, so if you can't stand O2 for connectivity then obviously giffgaff will be useless for you. They've had a few minor website glitches, but apart from that they're great value for money in my opinion. No need to phone up an annoying customer helpline to get stuff sorted

If you use this form then I can enter your details onto the giffgaff site and they'll send you a SIM card. You'll then start off with £5 of free credit instead of nothing when you order one yourself.

Note: Has to be a UK address which they'll send the SIM card to.

Something is a bit unclear - you pay 10 quid for a month and get 100 minutes, unlimited texts and net, but is it PAYG as well, as in does that 10 quid equal 10 quids worth of additional calls?

The goodybags are addons/boosters, a set amount for 30 days at better rates. The £10 you spend on the goodybag doesn't give you additional credit.

So if you go over the goodybag minutes or don't bother with a goodybag it's 8p/min for calls or 4p/text.

Hmm.... on o2? Bollocks to that then. O2's 3g is shite as it's full of iphone users hogging the bandwidth with shite apps.

Must be a location thing, I get very decent bandwidth on O2 - about 4 times better than I had with t-mobile, even on perfect signal.

o2's 3g signal in London is poor, compared with Orange and Voda. T-mobile aren't really a good comparison.

They may be better in other parts, but page loads and reception on Orange and Voda are much better than o2 in London. I've been exerimenting with payg sims, and unless o2 offer me a very good deal when my contract is up in 3 months, then I am going to go the sim only rolling contract route until I find a good deal on orange or voda.

edit:// All that said, the giffgaff pricing and structure looks very good. May order a sim to give it a try.

done, but ignore the first request as I didn't enter all the info.

I think the cheap pricing is too tempting! :p

There isn't much to lose from testing a PAYG network.

Fuckers. o2 have messed with their simplicity price plans. You can't select unlimited data as an option any more, it's only provided with the smart phone price plans, which have significantly less minutes. So giffgaff it is.

It's a shame they don't have a mid range goody bag at £20 or £25 with 600-900 minutes.

Am I missing something again C? 600 minutes, Unlimited texts, Unlimited Data = £25.00 on Simplicity? So the same as normal Simplicity costs + £5 for the data? That's cheaper than there bolt ons isn't it? (£7.50 iirc).

I'm on the Simplicity iPhone one my only difference is it's £20 but my texts are capped at 1200 but since I never hit the old 600 allowance, that's not exactly a problem for me.

Nope, they have changed it. You can not add any bolt on except unlimited landline or unlimited o2 calls to the standard simplicity package. The smarthphone simplicity package only gives you 300 minutes for £20, and the data bolt on. Cheeky fuckers.

Yeah, I got the simplicity deal a few months ago - got 700 minutes, unlimited texts and a free bolt on (data) for £20 a month.

Well I've asked giffgaff if they are going to introduce a mid to high usage goody bag. I've been looking at pricing (I currently pay £20 a month with o2 for 600mins) and I need at least 600 mins a month to make it worth while for me. Hopefully by August when my contract expires they will have made this change.

So I'm looking to get the boy set up on a payg network. He was on simplicity and the little barsterd got me a couple of £70 bills, unacceptable!

I'm looking to get what I can for around £10 a month using a top up voucher system, that way no more huge bills and the boy gets to keep vital limbs.

If I understand GiffGaff correctly, it’s going to cost me £20 to set up, £10 credit and £10 goodybag(for the unlimited data and texts)) then after that I just need to buy the £10 goodybags monthly. So after the initial setup cost of £20 it will then be £10 a month...have I got this right? Or will I need to top up both credit and goodybag each month at a cost of £20.

Fast :)

Nope, you buy the £10 credit, then you use that £10 credit to buy the goodybag. There is not set up cost.

The credit is used if you are simply using it as a pay as you go, or can be used to buy the better value goodybags.

If you PM me your address and email details I'll get one sent to you so I and you both get £5 bonus credit :p

You can get away with just a goodybag each month, but you'd obviously have nothing to spare if you've used the 100 included minutes.

Also, you can use the credit you've got on your account to buy your next goodybag. In your account you buy a goodybag (with existing credit or by credit/debit card), buy credit, or buy both.

You can now buy top-up vouchers from retailers which can be added to your account. You'll also be able to use O2 vouchers if the retailer doesn't have a specific giffgaff option (more info available here).

Looks like giffgaff are extending their free data until the 1st of October. Another 3 months of free data up to 100MB/day! :p

Woohoo! :D

If you're interested, PM your real name/email/address for a referral SIM (£5 free credit when you first top-up, which you don't get if you just use the site to join).
