I tried loading the rec. detonator driver from nvidia with no success on my dell system. When I load the driver and reboot the system the computer auto reboots before it gets into windows. Any suggestions?

Assuming you are running windows:

First Try Micro$oft classic fixit

Before windows loads press F8
Select Safe Mode (this should load windows without drivers)
Uninstall the Detonator drivers
Reload windows
Try and re-install old drivers

I have tried that. I was hoping that there was some way to make the detonator driver to work. I just bought diablo 2 and am unable to view the game.

This is probably not the best place for this but anyway:

You need to break down your problem and give more specific details if you have any problems, It's bad enough trying to sort my own problems when I have the PC in front of me :)

Basically did it work before you 'touched' it

1) Did your PC work with the GEforce before you upgraded the Drivers
2) Did Diablo 2 Work with the GEforce before you upgraded the Drivers
3) did you do anything else whilst upgrading these drivers

4) does windows load (if not EXACTLY what errors are you seeing)
5) If Win does load are you only having trouble with Diablo2 (Try another 3d game...does this work?)

These are just a few questions that may help you clarify what went wrong, and could help others (who may have a better idea than me) answer your questions

Is there a better place to post?

Yes, old driver worked
No, Diablo never worked, hence the upgrade
No, Error Windows is unable to load due to a computer auto re-boot.
Yes, Windows loads with the old driver, not detonator
I am able to play other games with the old driver. Blizzard the manufacturer of Diablo recommends an upgraded driver.

I've had this problem before...
What I found was that if you get into Windows in safe mode and look at your system properties (right click My computer -> properties)
You will see that there are 2 entries for the display adapters. For some reason it adds one rather than replacing the existing one.
The best thing to do would be remove both of them and let windows sort out getting it back to how it was.
Then to install the new drivers do it the way it specifically says in the help file that came with it, i.e. install the 'standard display adapter (VGA)' then update to the new drivers - thats always worked for me...
I think it must be something to do with Dell machines - they suck!

:)
