Having a degree isnt always the best option. We get job applications all the time from people who have degrees in accounting & finance but we seem reluctant to take them on as they have zero experience. Im not saying you wouldnt get a training contract, but just something to bare in mind. I didnt bother with uni. I decided to get AAT first so I was earning and getting experience at the same time.

my uncle is an accountant ill be able to learn pretty much alot from him, i already know a few things, will find out in the future anyways

TBH there's a lot of ways you can do a uni course in order to be able to leave w/ experiance.

dont you have to be part of the institute of chartered accountants to do work as one though? how else can you do without completing an accredited degree?
and yeh, all kinds of way for XP. do a sandwhich course for example and work for a year, or apply places over the 3-4 summers you get and shadow people.

Anyone call themselves an accountant. You can only call yourself a chartered accountant if you are a member of the institute, ie either passed your ACA or ACCA exams. You dont need a degree to sit your ACA/ACCA exams.

then i guess the other prob is actually getting experience without already having had experience
i go for different jobs all the time (may aswell at uni) but for example to work in a shop you need experience of having worked in a shop already. i assume it would be the same for career jobs too.

I belive GCSE results really do matter, there are other ways to uni, but GCSE,A-Levels is the best/eaisest/quickest way imo.

I did badly and dint get a single C as i was a lazy ****

I then went on to to GNVQs that would have led to a BTEC/HND and then to uni....but again i was a lazy ****

It was only after did i redo my english and get a C and do a maths course and get C level equlivlent in maths. Im hopefully going to start a Access course in a few weeks at york college that i will let me get into York uni (or maybe another) if i work hard as i now realise how important it is to actully study.

Dont get me wrong i learnt a lot in the last few years and i got to go aborad etc.

But i guess what im saying is Well done on your grades, go do A-Levels and go on to Uni if its what you want! and always work and study hard! dont end up 23 and working in burger king like me!

I got,

5 B's (Double Science, Maths, English, Business Studies
6 C's (Applied Engineering = 2 C's) - English Language, ICT, Stats, R.E.

Really happy, my mock grades 2 months previous were,

R.E - B
Stats - C
Rest were D and English Lit i got a E.

Really cheere dup my dad and he went and got me a new guitar, so im feeling like the dogs bollux now

I know I shouldn't be, but I'm disappointed with the B's because I'm looking to do medicine and I know I'm capable of getting all A's I just didn't.

I can still do it mind just means I have to take a gap year so my Baccalaureate results are in which will hopefully be what I need

GCSE's don't matter that much.

It's nice to have them and nice to have good results but there is always other ways round it.

My results where absolute shite, I didn't get one single C.

Double A* in my ICT but my teacher lost my CW so that fucked me up.

I'm talking a few years ago now though.
