i know they aren't the best machines to game on. But with my back the way it is I can't sit up at a desk for long periods. Which is ruining my pc gaming capabilities.

Anyone can recommend a gaming laptop. 17 inch screen preferably.

There's too many to chose from. I think the Lenovo y series looks promising.

Cheers

I just got a MSI GS60 Ghost Pro - 15.6" 4K and it is an absolute bute. 970M graphics and 16GB Ram with 2 x 128GB SSDD and 1 x 1TB HDD. So thin and light I gave my MSI GT72 Dragon to my son.

The Gigabyte one was getting rave reviews and you get a lot for your money but after reading the reviews very closely people were saying the screen was a bit shat. I hate this trend for matte screens nowadays on laptops. All I would say is make sure it has a gloss screen, who fucking cares about reflections, I would rather a reflection than a really shit quality feeling screen. May not seem the biggest deal but it will be when you are gaming, you massive nerd

Heard the gb ones sounded a bit like an aircraft taking off. The Asia have build issues. Msi looks ok. Trying to get something with a 980m chip in it for future proofing as much as I can. Don't think I want a 4k screen.

MSI do the GS and GT in several flavours:

http://www.msi.com/product/nb/#?category=Gaming Series&category_no=271

The GS60 Ghost 3K (2880x1620) with the 15.6"
The G70 Stealth standard 1920x1080 17.3"
The GT70 Dominator standrad 1920x1080 17.3"
The GT60 Dominator 3K (2880x1620) on 15.6"

If you travel with a laptop I cant recommend the GS range enough, best gaming laptop I've had for on the road use. If it is just for desk space the GT range are excellent as well. I preferred it the the ASUS RoG I had previously to trying MSI. If your set on 980M you may wanna wait a couple months. The only MSI's shipping with 980M are the flagship beast the GT80 or the GT72 which is an updated version of the one my son is now using. Excellent build quality and not had a single issue with it in the 18 months I had it.

Aye it's shiny and I would love one. Just working out how to play the games on it now. Anyone tried a trackball mouse?
Just a normal mouse plugged into it surely?

I am trying to avoid sitting at a desk for hours cause my lumbar spine is fucked. So sitting on a sofa doesn't really give me the surface to run a mouse :(

Get a desk where u can stand, actually i find this pretty comfortable during work.

Actually ^^^^^^^ that would do the trick just nicely. I was going to suggest a box or something by the side of you for the mouse, or a tray.

The US price of the laptop was:
03/03/2015 AMAZON MKTPLACE PMTS AMZN.COM/BILL £1,426.38

I'm seriously in love with the thing at the moment. Trying to get the company to buy me the WS20J 3K for work use.

What screen do you have on yours? 3k 4k hd ? Just wondering if you have problems with games on high res screen.
Its the 4k, only game I have an issue with is DAOC because the ui does not scale. So have to run at 1080

Gonna get the msi g60. But the hd version not the 4k. I don't see any benefit in it being 4k.

That lap tray doesn't get sold any more. But I ordered something similar. Now just to get them to sort out the pay over six months thing. Probably tomorrow. :).

Thanks for the info guys.

I have been thinking about a gaming laptop for a few weeks now. I think I will sell my MacBook and get a gaming laptop instead. I love the Mac it is so smooth and good to do everything but game. I have been getting really pissed off at games that run fine on my old Sony laptop (1st gen i5 and HD4000 gfx) but I have to turn everything off to get them to run on this Mac. It is a shame but I think this was a filed experiment.

I have been looking at a few options and if I want to keep the same form factor as this Mac then this laptop by Razer looks great. http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade-2014

Or if I go for a 15.6 then this looks like an Absolute beast. http://www.techradar.com/reviews/pc-mac/laptops-portable-pcs/origin-eon15-x-1288075/review

First things first I need to see how much I can get for the Mac to see what I can spend on a Laptop.
