I think the problem is drum, that you started the thread without some clear definition of what you were trying to discuss, leaving people in the dark somewhat.

I mean it's taken the #53rd reply to make that point clearer to everyone and finally understand what it's on about.

On topic, i don't think it's as bad as you make it out to be, and lets clarify that your talking about First Person Shooters mainly here, the online gaming scene surely covers all genres and from what little experience i have of online strategy i never saw the 1337 kr3w hang around them.

I believe it's the nature of the games that breeds this aggression and contempt, especially when it's now so competitive. I dislike the 1337 kiddies as much as anyone else but i also don't enjoy the company of silent killing machines either...if i wanted that i'd play offline. Bit of banter when playing is best. As for companies combatting this kind of thing well, why combat one of the biggest markets only to potentially lose profits?

The internet is still relatively "young", and the online gaming scene even more so. The pioneers of online gaming (a.k.a. "Quakeworlders") are now in or fast approaching their thirties and have much more mature attitudes. As time moves on, the current crop will become older and also more older people will join in as the "revolution" spreads with broadband and cheaper machines.

The eventual result will be less kiddies online as a proportion of the internet community. Whilst the "kiddie" element remains a large contingent, then companies will pander to it, as is the flux of the free market, but it wont last forever.

Unfortunately, by the time a majority mature attitude transpires in online gaming, I'll be wracked with arthritus and alzheimers and unable to join in, I will however be able to wee in my pants and not worry about it.

May I be the first to point out that the topic (as put forward in the first post) was about actually the definition of a "Glen"....

It has nothing to do with L33tness or online gaming or the nature of games and its effect on children etc etc.

The diversion from this has been a more interesting however

It seems to have all started from one post by YuckFoo "This is getting a little repetative" which was obviously a joke, quite funny if you ask me. Drum then came up with a huge, long, drawn out and totally unnecessary reply.

It's all load of bollocks tbh!

Some good points, also some food for thought too, but I still stand by the fact that there is a certain element of the online community, that isn't always kiddies that deem themselves the be all and end all of the online written word. Whatever has gone on before is in the past, but lets keep things real....

Whatever has gone on before for the majority of online activities in the UK has failed I feel due to bad attitudes towards correct promotion etc, granted FH is now just a forum and a discussion area for all manor of things including games, but the same attitudes are still here, but such is life.

End of the day, I don't feel the need to carry on like I have something to prove, I am complete in myself..lol I carry on exactly as you would find me in real life, this also includes not tolerating dick heads I'm afraid. Now granted most here are totally cool, but I still stand by the fact that there are a few morons who spoil it for everyone else.

As for how I'm treated I don't really give a dam tbh..lol (your not looking me in the face eotd) I just think of the bigger picture concerning new people who may wish to post and the constant 'tude' from certain individuals.. but hey thats for FH to decide if they like that sort of thing or not eh.

This has the potential to never end............................

FH is only a forum now, as it was in the beginning, if it was to rise again, it would seem a tragedy to drag all the old shite up with it as well. If the past is the past and should be laid to rest (as someone pointed out to me today re: this thread) then those old tired l33t tudes should be left with it too IMO.

Last point : I cannot go into times dates and names, regarding community supervisors / company reps and their agendas, I would possibly find myself in deep sh*t. But if anybody wishes to here the real story, I am in Canterbury this weekend for a friends 28th birthday.. feel free to PM me and I will relay an interesting story about bloke who wanted 60k for some marbles. Its an interesting story.... ;)

This post adresses several posts full of tude actually, rude abusive, things that the FH COC say are not on, somwhat of a double standard me thinks...lol
This didn't just start, over a silly comment, jesus give me some credit!

This must end, I think all l33t dudes with tudes are full fo sh*t myself, I think anyone who gives it large in a virtual capacity is very sad and somewhat lacking in their real life.. but thats me, its my opinion and I am entitled to have it eh.

Yuck is clearly evil. We should chase him with pitchforks and burning torches whilst making a loud clamor. After driving him to the sanctuary of an old windmill we could chant and throw things at him before burning it down.

Ah, a chance to wear my best angry-mob attire. I've just had it dry-cleaned too.

I prefer to entice him to a remote scottish island, confirm his virginity, and then put him in a giant straw doll and set light to it.

I like your way of thinking, Xanelet, but you must agree that we can't deny Wij his chance to wear his pink spandex bunny-suit again now can we?

Only if he is a redhead.

Though the gods can often be appeased with a semi-permenant dye. ;)

Actually, I just read this thread...well, I skimmed a lot, but someone thoughtfully included sections in bold.

I'm scared to think I'm a member of the UK professional gaming scene. I got paid to play for a while, but I think the sponsor had us confused with a decent clan. I don't even have a connection better than a 56k winmodem...

lol.. :D Same shit different forum... Its the same all over a small percentage of childish morons seem to get a real kick out of flaming everyone else, if it isn't the i r l33t brigade, its a glen or its something else. How some people expect to encourage new people to post and chat is beyond me tbh, but hey what do I know?

He does seem a little sad, but then there are a few sad wankerzz!!111 on this forum that seem hell bent on doing nothing else but showing off like the siwy wittle girles they are... They call it the l33t attitude I think? A pirate I think also?? (in some circles!!) I mean wtf?? Smacks a little of Public (not got a real grip on real1ty) school boy humor if you ask me. But hey what the fuck would I know I'm an 'average' gamer....

Name and shame would be cool but I am sure FH are bound by the contract of customer / client anonymity, when they sign up? Someone would have to read the small print of the provider with which Freddys Resides I imagine?

Please add.....

Good sir, it does seem you have a comedic twist, surely you wouldn't make a post like the one above if you were trying to encourage 'new posters'!

I still have no idea what you're drivelling about drum. I'm getting a pretty clear picture of what infectious diseases I'm going to tell you to die of in the future however. And they aren't pretty.
