I wouldn't normally share this on Freddy's, but my cousin and life-long second sister died this morning following complications from her brain tumour.

Diagnosed in February, dead in September, 32 years old.

She had a grade 4 astrocytoma, better known as glioblastoma multiforme, the most aggressive and common of all brain tumours. Perhaps you focus more when you know someone suffering from a particular disease, but it seems that everywhere I look someone is affected by one:

- my dad's best friend
- my brother in law's mother
- my cousin
- Richard Burns, rally driver
- Ted Kennedy
- Seve Ballesteros
- Dr Robert Moog (synth bloke)
- Ivan Noble, BBC reporter

I could go on.

Regardless, what a tragic and terrible disease. May she rest in peace.

Hope it was relatively painless and all the best in getting your brain sorted around this.

Sorry for your loss, thats harsh.

Maybe inappropriately offtopic, apologies in advance but...

- Dr Robert Moog (synth bloke)

Was surprised to see you mention the legend of Bob Moog. I have often lusted after Moog synths and they were a *massive* part of the early popularising of synth music and play an important part even to this day.

This year we also lost the founder of Korg, Tsutomu Katoh, to cancer. Korg Founder Tsutomu Katoh Dead, Leaving Legacy Of 48 Years Of Innovation In Music Gear » Synthtopia

My father died of it with added complications a few years ago. The feeling of helplessness is overpowering. My thoughts are with you at this time.

See I don't believe we will see that cure for many many years. The problem is that private companies make the vaccines, they are in it for the profit. Take it inhouse and then progress will be made.

Populations would absolutely sky rocket if cancer were cured, but this kind of talk isn't really suitable for this thread. More suited to Toht's thread.

Really sorry to hear that :( It's a nasty business, I had my own brush with it 3 years ago, I got to be one of the lucky ones, if it wasn't for random fate I would now have about 5 years to go with an asymptomatic tumor growing inside me.

Thanks for the support guys, means a lot.

We're over the disbelief now, just glad there is no more pain / suffering. Her last wishes for her funeral were interesting. She's requested that noone wears black, she's already picked out a bright turquoise wicker "coffin" and she wants it to be a party with videos and photos; not some doom and gloom church affair with everyone moaning their faces off.

I know some of you have lost people to cancer, it's just awful.
