Pure and simple, Fuck EA.

So they took down EU servers, luckily i was gonna activate my US druid to check up and steal some stuff (or use it as BB account, who knows). I noticed that when i was logged in i had 10 free days to mooch on, woo!

I browse around the site, change my billing information and on the fast track to reactivating. When i click "Activate" i get slammed with a wall of text that says i have to buy 1 month to get my 10 days but i can cancel my purchase any time (kinda like newspapers do i guess). Lucky me they also have this magical Wizard who will guide me through the hard task of using my VISA card so i carefree press continue.

ENTER PRE PAID TIME CARD CODE:

wtf? who said anything about pre paid time card codes. Ah well I'll just click the link they must have somewhere to buy 1 timecard, no worries. Lookie lookie where is it? Its no fucking-where to be found.
So now i have to burden myself with the hard task of finding timecards on EAs webpage (which is actually an impossible task). I get redirected to the Danish shop for EA. Nothing in the description that says this code cannot be used on US so i purchase it. Back to Subscription to activate.
Behold the code that doesnt work!

fuck ea.

Well EA do have a history of being the dead of decent mmo's , once they took over and there wasnt an instant large advertisment campaign it became clear daoc was headed down that path , pity :(

I just did exactly the same , im closing my US bot account so i was gonna pl a new bot on my EU account.

Went to activate my main account on ywain and theres no option for credit cards , so i went and bought a time card and the code wont work , cant buy from the US ea site cos it says you arent from this country etc... and redirects me to the UK one.

Yea lol on my 2 us accounts 1 has my chars and im keeping thata cc open and the 2nd us account has just 3 ml8 bots rr3-4 , this im gonna close so i will need to level some new bots for use of my 2 eu accounts and my main us account , pl group anyone ? i can log on mid sm/hunter/warrior<blockbot>/healer on alb tic/mincer/icewiz if anyone is game :D

I guess a few of us are in the same situation... I bought 3 of the time cards (redirected to UK site) a few days ago but thought I'd wait a while to reactivate my EU accounts thinking I could use the time cards on my US accounts anyway.

I didn't read enough of the small print on the eastore site so totally my own fault for thinking a "daoc time card" is a "daoc time card"... kind of universal for DAoC but no, that would be too easy lol. The non-US time cards don't work on US accounts.

I'm guessing the US account centre for our US accounts AND our _EU accounts just hasn't been upgraded to allow non-US time cards to be used. Hopefully after this current maintenance all time cards will work :)

Thats what i thought!

To be fair, I saw this post BEFORE any account/server maintenance was finnished (or at least the herald said it was still ongoing) so I kinda thought the op needed to take a deep breath!


That said, the op has not posted anything since Myhtic finnished what they where doing. Would be good to know if this is going to be an issue or not and if the op was justified or not.

I just like to have the facts before i make a call!

All this recent crap makes me glad that I'm not subscribing until they've actually sorted the transfers out.

Hopefully once the transfers to Ywain are in place and fully tested, then I'll start playing again.

The pay by credit card is actually in the bottom left corner on the general tab at the bottom of the page, it will say Activate I think. I had problems last week trying to reactivate :p

Aye same, switched off for the moment and looking elsewhere. I'll be back when it is all in place and working.

You can't pay using game cards because the only game cards available are EU game cards. If you try and buy a US game card it redirects you to the EU one. The EU game cards do not work with the EU daoc any more because the billing has been shifted over to the US.

I can't see many people trusting Mythic with their card details so for many the game cards are the only real option.

I avoided all that crap simply by buying a 6 month time card for the main account and one month for the BB account. All transferred nicely and having no issues whatsoever getting it all started at the moment. Anyone could have seen that there were bound to be complications - there will be more and thats why transfer has to be gradual.

The complication seems to be on the Sales Tax issue btw (Called VAT in the UK) - have you noticed when you buy a time card it includes a sales tax? Its all because America is not yet in the EU you see.

Remember not so long ago we were told this was not possible. We are now almost within touching distance. Soon we will be feeling each other up all over again on Ywain.....

Kinky Sharky ;);) chance would be a fine thing tho... i'd accepted the delay with the problems renewing our EU accounts but now I can't even renew my US accounts on the US account centre either and afaik that had nothing at all to do with the euro transfers :(

I can't even give mythic my cash atm - really hope they sort this account centre *ahem* sorry center *cough* fiasco out asap

Oh sorry..I understood you perfectly. You raged about something that was in reality your own mistake but I wanted to know what happened AFTER the billing upgrade was finnished. You might think it was irrelevant because it was a US account but its not. I honestly thought everyone knew you dont buy EU timecards for US games or vice versa. It does say that on the time card sales screen than once when you go to purchase it and it was something Mythic have stated on the Herald within the last 6 weeks.

Of course...like I said, had you waited till the maintince was over (which it now is) it should (in theory) be a case of all time time cards working on the 1 centeral billing system Mythic now has, as there is no diffrence between the EU and US players now. We can all play on either US or EU servers from one centeral account, ergo you should be able to buy either US or EU timecards and use it for the account. If thats not the case SINCE Mythic finnished the update then fine...report it and they'll resolve it....but thats certainly what they've implied would be the case in the when they took over the EU servers.


But it dosnt change the fact you purchased a EU time card for a US game whilst the whole thing was being overhauled. Fair enough, they redirected you to the EU timecard page but like I said..it clearly states on the purchase page (or did when I looked) that the card where for the EU version of the game only.

So..before ranting, try again now that its all merged and finnished and either create an appeal or mail mythic. via the herald website.

I guarentee they'll apply the timecard AND give you any free trial time you lost.

Sometimes Mythic are idiots..I agree..but this time around, reguardless of them redirecting you, this was a case leaping before you looked!

A little patience and a short email via support will solve this problem straight away.

If not then yes..I'd like to know because then Mythic can go to hell!

you can write any novel you wish but it still doesnt make it true. There is n chance for me to buy legit US time cards as a danish person, from a company i "trust". I simply cannot chose International shopping to get US time cards (i tried searching their US game site for DAoC info but there is nothing! seriously, nothing). Press shop and you get sent regional instead. The description of the product does not say anything what-so-ever about it not working on US or only working EU. I complained and will get my money refunded so thats no the issue.

My rant touches 3 subjects: Mythics Activate guide that forces you to buy timecards even after i changed my billing info (that includes VISA details) and then not having a Link to a timecard. If i were returning after 3 years just to try it out i would forget about it and move on, coz its too bothersome. 2ndly Its about EU players not being able to buy Time Cards that work for US servers in EU Shop and they dont state it on the website, at least the danish one. Ive just succesfully activated my US account with the code i got yesterday , so they seem to be working now.

Yeeehaaw.... working fine here too so seems they have updated the US account centre so it now accepts our non-US game cards for both the US accounts and the _EU accounts \o/

That post CLEARLY states those cards are for the EU server because they are EU cards.I cant verify anything else cos I cant find the cards (possibly been pulled)? in the EA store.

As I originally said..you purchased those cards at the time the billing was being turned into one centeralised system rather than 2 sperate systems it was persiously....and (repeating myself) you purchased an EU card for the US version of the game.


In theory it should not longer matter and the card "should" work. If it isnt then there is a problem. Your getting refunded and I agree as of late Mythic and EA are pushing their luck when it comes to looking after their customers but I unserstood your rant..I just dont agree with i.

So to answer your 3 points..

1) Yes..we know their system is flawed but your getting refunded (??) but I'm pretty sure EA wants your money! Have the offered an alternative, noted its a problem or what?

2) There should be no such restrictions about where you purchase your cards from unless it is an international law/tax issue. Since I've only ever bought EU timecards once I cant comment but I can certainly enter and browse the US EA store. This may be a problem for me in 4 days time though. If it is then I'll deal with it then....but this goes back to my original point...You bought (by mistake) an EU card for a US game

3) Yes..you can rant all you like at EA but its not accomplishing anything here is it? If their billing system is flawed for international customers (which I'm pretty sure they are aware of now) then rather than ranting here at people who cant do much about it other than b e stuck in the same boat, why not email Mythic direct?




EDIT: Since people are now posting that the cards (EU/US) work regurdless of where you get them it appears I was right all along. All you had to do was wait.
