Oh and to answer your question, elite? Hmm hard to say, thier training can be brutal. I am sure any Para will tell you they go through just as much if not more though. Certainly the FFL are tougher than regular army units, the training is pretty intense.

I had a friend who joined up with the French Foreign Legion back in the mid 90's. When he came out 2 years later he was a changed man, and I don't mean in a good way. I think the phrase you might use is "batshit crazy".

The things that he saw and did snapped his mind. He turned to evangelist christianity after this just to find some peace of mind.

Yeah it warns on a few sites that it will change you psycologically(sp)

Some people must make a career out of it though!

And it's contracts of 5 years from the instant you walk in, even before the training.

Yeah but its ok cause you only leave to look after your dead brothers wife and kid, while making lots of money in high stake illegal fights

If its anything on the Guards training then it will be tough

To get in you must do atleast 4 pull ups and run 2600m (1.6mile)

It's as if it's the British Army.

But then they take you to the 'farm' and unleash hell on you.

You ever watch Bad Lads Army? the ITV thing with old fashioned army training? Well the Guards training was exactly like that

We lived in tin billets (which we called the spider billiets) at Pirbright, before they done it up, and even had the pour sand then water all over the floor right after an inspection etc

4 pullups and a 1.6mile run is nothing. I know lots of unfit people who could manage that.

4 pull ups can be hard if your not used to them. Dont be misled by the small number. Most people couldnt do 2

Well A; i'd love to see you wait for that, i'm not throwing crap like that to the internet :p

B; stop with the f*cking proper, hate people like that. "I just ate two burgers." "Were they proper burgers?!" f*ck off!

Proper pulls are not the ones most people do, its arms totally straight then pull up to your chin then right back down to straight arms. Most people do the old bent arms thing which is much much easier

I was explaining why people think pulls are easy until you make them do a proper one.

Dude, I did just say that most of my unfit mates could do them. I know they are hard if you are not used to lifting your own body weight, but 4 is still a low number. I also know what a proper pull up is.

You just need strong forearms and upper back strength, it seems a very poor physical test considering what the rest of their training is reported to be like.

Such a small number yeah.

4 pull ups is nothing to somebody of my standard.

My cousin can't do one pull up, he's in the army now. I'd out run him no problem, i smoke i drink and i eat shit.

Like Sparx said, proper pull ups are harder than you'd imagine.

I done 11.

11? I usually do 3 sets of 10 when I'm doing a back session (although it usually ends up being 25 in total because I'm dead by the last set), of proper wide grip pull ups, and 3 sets of narrow grip chins when doing a bicep session.

Up your game laddey!

You weren't just explaining, you were condecending and thinking i don't know what a PROPER pullup is.

If you were, think where you're posting and make it clearer to avoid confusion.

Nobody asked for a description on a PROPER pullup that all the PROPER pullup delecates have approved to be in the great PROPER pullup book of PROPER pullups.

I said i hate people getting anal, as you do, about things.

And that's all you're hear about it, so feel free to bullshit & whine about it.

You're ignored! Uuuu uuuu! *dances around in a skirt* e-macho much?

I didnt say you didnt know. I said most people. I used to be able to do a fair few but i couldnt do half as many now.

I also used to be able to do 1.5 mile in 7 mins 30 now id be lucky if i could do it in a day.

If you are unfit and out of shape even doing one starting straight armed will be very hard for alot of people

Sorry, i should have stated this was when i was 16 and 6 months in recruit selection in Glencourse for the British Army.

Now i'm much stronger, wiser and have much more will power.

I'd smash loads more out i reckon.

Although i was like 5ft 8 back then, and must of weighed 10stone'ish.

I'm now 6ft maybe abit more and weigh 11stone 8lb.

I want to be elite. Elite fitness, elite mentality.
