His complaint about the IQ of the posters or about his opinions on iraq? This forum is the only one I post on and it'd probably be a better place if I didn't. I still consider alot of the guys here 'friends' and my online gaming experience would have been nothing without them. You know who you are KEA boys. That said, this place has died on its arse. It's funny. Way back in BarryDays I launched myself into this community with a cringe-worthy but thoroughly well-intentioned contribution to the 'Rise and Fall of BarrysWorld Forums' thread.

I was obliterated by Perplex in the argument, being cited as one of those who had joined the board and contributed shit all. Though, I really didn't get why he was so upset. Now, I sorta do... but I'm still not sure.

In summary (keep with me), these debates of thread quality and member contributions have been going on since day one and this elusive era of vibrant, intelligent and challenging discussion is potentially, nostalgia.

In a second summary (as you can see, my thoughts aren't yet coherent on the subject, but we're getting there), I still keep an eye on these forums and read fairly regularly (not sure why, I just do, okay?). But, the only time I've contributed substantially was when I was shockingly bored at college.

So, in conclusion (sorry about this), I'd say dip in and out, take the rough with the smooth, take the cliché with a cliché and just enjoy the forum on a more casual basis, like tennis.

It's the ever persistant cycle of BW/FH.

Joy/revelry/new faces/old faces hate new faces/politics/disapproval/old face claims "Everything is shit"/disappearances/reappearances/Wij reveals some dark inner secret, or fetish, or bodily fluid disaster/mating season/the ressurection of the desktop thread/someone posts granny porn and gets banned/there is a campaign to reinstate them/amusing photoshop session/Daily Mail gets slagged off/Go Back to stage one. All we're lacking is a lion cub held aloft and some bollock shrivelling musical number to play over the top.

I don't object to the Fallen Forum. It means a lot to some people who post here, and to the families of those who did, and it doesn't cause me any inconvenience. I think it would be a lot better as a seperate forum in the top bar, rather than bundled in with the rest, because a) hopefully it won't get used very often, b) it makes it feel more of a formalised structured addition to the place than a tagged on sub forum and c) it's human nature to not really want to combine socialising and mourning/reminders of morbidity in the same place. Also, the name Freddie's Fallen is a very RPG type name to use, whuch is of course a lovely gesture as all those who are currently remembered in there were from MMORPGS, but I should imagine that those who aren't roleplayers and are a dash more prone to know their campers from their rogues probably wouldn't feel it a suitable place to remember them in, simply from the title. Which is possibly another reason that it feels slightly out of place holding it in General.

The politics in this place is a little hairy sometimes, but that's the way internet debates always are. You guys that are grumbling haven't got to worry, like a lightning rod I shall divert all political negativity - I actually read the Daily Mail (among other papers - I'm a bit obsessive about reading. You should see my recycling bag collection at the end of the fortnight). According to this forum, reading The Daily Mail is as bad as punching babies whilst wearing puppy skin gloves. Truth is, I could never be bothered saying it before because I didn't much fancy hearing how I obviously shoot immigrants in my spare time and close mines whilst dressed as Maggie Thatcher, which I suppose does say something about the whole politics/arguing here on the forums: you can tell by how much I can ramble on that I don't usually hold back on an opinion Somedays you just can't be arsed to argue your way into a frenzy over everything and nothing, so I just side step. Maybe I'm mellowing. Or just getting lazy.

Anyway Yuck, you won't stay away. Soon we'll be back in Wij season, or desktop season, or superimposing Mystic G's head onto the body of a meer cat season, and everything will start back at square one.

Most threads here seem like a local Tory association love in (with fewer replacement hips) to me, since my views are way way way to he left of what is posted here. This is supposed to be a gaming forum. Gaming is entertaining and a pleasurable activity. I don't want to look at an obituary when I go to a gaming forum....

It seems to be populated by liberal, politically correct, arguementative, illiterate and mentally challenged wasters....

It isn't possible to discuss things here anymore, because these fuckers are so retarded that they cannot understand a rational argument or are too afraid to express their real views on such a vegetarian forum.

Valid points, but make your mind up. Your complaining about the appearance of an obituary on a gaming forum, where you seek entertainment and escapism, but you also wish to discuss political/emotional and other serious issues on the same 'gaming forum'. :S

To be honest, it is what it is, a gaming forum, sure, gamers have views and oppinions on issues relating to life, however im sure there are plenty of other forums where you can discuss in depth with highly interlectual, intelligent and mature people.

you find most of the shit comes from the DAoCers to be perfectly honest, i've rarely strayed onto the general forums and the like, but its never been for me. If I pass on to the great coffee shop in the sky whilst i'm posting here, I personally wouldn't want a rememberance thread on here. I'd hope that those who knew me would remember me without prompting, and to those who didn't I'd just be a dead random. I certainly wouldn't want it at the top of the main forum to depress the living piss out of all and sundry who visit the place. Surely considering all the dead yins were DAOC'ers, wouldn't it be better in the DAOC forum somewhere?
