Frames

I'm building a website for my college assignment and i'm using frames. I currrently have my window split into three frames and I was wondering if anyone knows of an attribute that will remove the thin windows border between the frames. Thus the window will appear to look like one single window.

Thanks in advance

On the frames html page find the <Frameset> tag and make sure frameborder="NO",

for example:

<frameset cols="*,903" frameborder="NO" border="0" framespacing="2" rows="*" bordercolor="#000000">

Think thats it,

Cheers,

Khan

Thank you Khan and <insert deity>bless!

I can't believe i got a reply so quickly and it works a treat. I couldn't find the answer to that one in any of my HTML manuals.

May the vibes of righteousness come forthwith from their secret hiding place and shine upon your every move from now until the end of eternity.

Oh and did i say thanks? :)

Well on a similar subject I'm trying to link to a page that is part of my content in the frameset so I want that page to check its in the frame and if not load the frames.

I've looked at examples on the net but none seem to work with by Top & Left hand frames :(

Anyone? Help?!

:)

Use Javascript to check what they have as the "Location"? Then just send them to the main page?

Don't ask me what the javascript is, but i'd guess that the location is "window.location".

You could always use PHP as well ;), but yeah window.location or window.location.url does get the URL/page location for JS.

For dealing with javascript to check if you are in a frame or not, check here -http://developer.irt.org/script/script.htm

Very good site for javascript.

ARGHHHH

Will someone please remove all web browsers except IE6 from the face of the earth

Then when they've done that take HTML and Javascript and re-write the whole f*cking lot

I'll admit I'm new to web design so none of this fancy html stuff comes naturally.

But whats really annoying is having to triple the content of a webpage just because every web browser looks at it differently. The man hours that are quite literally wasted must be incredible I know I just wasted 6hours looking to solve my problem and even the links you useful lot posted didn't help me because after realising that I would be needing 60lines of code excluding the Anti-Back button bracking code and the Opera frames turned off fixing code and the Opera JavsScript turned off code etc... etc..

</rant>

I bet the people who make the browsers sat down and said:

"how can we make it harder for the web-designers"

or

There was a standard and Microsoft went:

"I don't care, I want this included!"

But.....

Its all good fun... ;)

Ah no keep IE 5.5, IE6 is a piece of crap for some people as it's not the best for reliablity, wasn't for me anyway. Ditch Netscape though...

Fuck off, IE is a peace of shit.

In a perfect world, all browsers would use Gecko for rendering. Mozilla aer teh win!!1

That still wouldn't cover all the people who use it and no one uses crap even if it is free.

Ignoring the browser debate.

Frames. I've heard rumours that there a serious plans to dump them in a future relase of the HTML standard.
Anyone know anything about it?
Sounds like a good idea if you ask me.

People use IE, because it comes with their pc. How many IE users, do you think have actually used Netscape? 20% :rolleyesL

Most people who start browsing with IE, and try NS, never try NS for long enough. People like what they're used to.

Thats pure BS although its expected from you. NS is crap and I've seen it totally destroy one PC OS and I tried it for quite a while before you come back with some stupid remark...btw the fact that it came with the OS did help its original market share but it won't keep them using it if it was bad besides what you think..esp with other free alternatives a round, F.A.C.T.

Again, No one would continue to use a piece of shit browser even if they started using it because it was bundled with the OS.

BTW frames are generally seen as horrible....although in some cases they seem all right.

IE Isn't bad, it just isn't the best, or paticurly good.

I use Mozilla because it has features i like:
Tabbed browsing
Cookie management(Blocking etc)
Javascript management(No popups etc)
Good page rendering, tidy GUI, key bindings.

I know for a fact that you can't disable popups with IE

Why settle for an inferior product though? :)

Oh, and Embattle, you know IE has no ability itself to disable them, so just shut it, ok?

Well then why don't you suggest it to MS to add it in IE 6.5/7, most people will still use IE even if there is better around. Also, NS 6 is a pretty good browser I must admit but still some times it's rendering could be better.
