Simo Häyhä. Finland. 1939 - 1940.

A member of the 34th Infantry Regiment and a farmer by trade, Simo Häyhä became a most feared sniper during the 1939-40 (30 November 1939 14 March 1940) Winter invasion of Finland by the Soviet Union. Using nothing more than an iron sighted Mosin-Nagant Model 28, Simo is credited with killing 505 Russians during a three month period - a feat still unmatched today by any sniper in any conflict. (Editor's note: Some sources say as many as 542 kills in this period.) The impact of Simo and men like him forced the Soviets to pay dearly for their transgressions. While Finland lost the Winter war, it cost the Soviets 1,000,000 men killed out of the 1,500,000 man invading force*. The Finns lost a total of 25,000 men in that conflict. A testament to their bravery and determination in the face of amazing odds.
He passed away on April 1st 2002 at the age of 96

In addition to the kills he made as a sniper, Kolkka also was apparently quite fond of the submachine gun as he made an additional 200 kills with it during this same time frame. Hunted often by the Soviets, he outlasted them all, killing the sniper sent to hunt him at 600 yards with a single shot after a running duel of several days. Like Simo Häyhä, Sulo Kolkka exhibited the hard determination and skill that kept Finland a sovereign nation even after its inevitable defeat. At the end of the Winter War a Soviet General is said to have quipped, "We gained 22,000 square miles of territory. Just enough to bury our dead".*

Ah Häyhä, legend. White Death if i remember it correctly, was the nickname.

Enemy sent bombing runs after the guy.

His final battle was nothing but legendary, got shot in the head by an enemy, shot the guy who shot him and was remoed from the battlefield, surviving to 90+.

Also; Great story about the winter war was when a cook and a couple of other soldiers took out a large group(think it was around a 100, if not 200+) of enemies by leaving a pot of hot saussage soup in the forest and waiting for the enemy(who had little food prepared for the winter) to come eat smoe lovely warm soup. Machine gun blaze, all dead and in the aftermath enemy soldiers were found frozen with a sausage still hanging from ther mouth.

Our border patrol has a similar tactic for catching illegals out in the desert. They dress as a Marachi band and that attracts Mexicans like moths to a bug light.

What if he copied a link to a very unflattering post you made here into an email to your work supervisor? That's what he did to one of our members. He also started spamming my personal email. After he was banned he tried to hack practically all of the member's accounts. He has tried (unsuccessfully, so far) to smear our admins name on the internet and in his community.

You are displaying the same dismissive attitude we had when he first appeared. He has caused me to pull any personal info off of my account. This jackass would love nothing more than to get you fired from your job.

It would not get me fired. Hmm - isnt the amazing Finland kill rate down to the futility of attacking heavy overlapping defensive emplacements full of heavy machineguns with no real plan, the wrong equipment and troops that were just conscripts?

The Finns were no doubt brave but when completely un-prepared troops keep attacking your strongest defences you'd expect a good kill rate.
