Ok so I want to format my HD. But I have a few problems.

1) Only have 1 HD so can't use one to clean the other
2) dont have a diskette (sp!!) station, so can't make a disk that makes me boot in dos, with the comand line.
3) My whole HD is in that cheesy formate thingy that came with XP. Whatever its called, cant remeber what its called.

Anyhow, I can't get my comp to boot in with the command line
only.

Help :)

<--- feels line a nub, but then again I dont fotmat my HD every day :)

Can you not set first boot device in BIOS to CD ROM and boot your Windows XP disk from there ?

That should take you to the command prompt for Format or repair

can't get it to work that way.

It boost from the CD allright, but can't delete windows or format the c: drive
when booting from it. And I can't get the regular blue screen thingy that
came when I installed windows to pop up.
(That will probably only come if you dont have win installed)

arf.

Guess Il start thinking about buying a 2nd HD :p

During the install process there is an option to format the drive. After that you can exit the setup and install another OS or whatever.

Have you tried any 3rd party Formatting software. I have heard some good reports on Killdisk You can download the free version from there
