Fm2008?

il move onto frameworks and variations of tactics (should have 6 imo for each 'set formation') for situations next week!
(10min edit rule owned me)
edit: though with current closing down bug I refuse to sit down and really work out effective tactics atm- and you cant plan for the obscene amount of red cards n offside goals either
currently finding best way to play is to outscore every team but perhaps just not found a suitable way to effectively defend yet
another couple of hints:
scouting has been vastly improved this year around, so its actually worth setting all your scouts like 3-4 assignments a year (they'l automatically do one assignment after another) and you can also have a scout observing a competition (eg under 18s league) alongside scouting a nation or region
also noticed that jumping and height dont necessarily mean a player will win 100% of headers like they use to, which has degraded the overpowered targetman -> supply to head
and 3 strikers with side arrows (3x CF) in a 4-3-3 seems to be VERY effective in breaking down any defensive formation relying on a flat back 4, especially if you play 2 attacking mids with Farrows either side of a more defensive orientated CM
and player morale is very very determinant in terms of performance, its usually worth playing defensively for the 1st half and then getting angry at team if your starting with players on "okay" to "low" morale, then moving to a more attack minded formation
also worth having a variation of your current formation but with a more defensive mindset and few forward runs along with 100% time wasting for those close games where your 2-1 up with 15mins to go- fairly obvious but a nice string in the bow so to speak
oh and when searching for a goalie, avr rating doesnt really say much about the player, but MoM and clean sheets give a better indication (rating works off shots saved regardless of whether they were 40yard pee rollers or 5yard megaman saves)- even then you have to consider what kind of defensive unit a goalie has had around him (had this problem recently as granted iv only conceded 21 in 27 games but thats down 99% to me good defense and not kuschwank or foster as theyre basically both Taibis on my save)
finances- if your harshly UNDER your current wage budget then you do end up making ALOT of money just from the way things pan out- and this money will be allocated to you transfer wise at the start of each season, which is a nice boost when your board tells you you have 130m to spend this year

Couple of things to note...
closing down bug .... there is a kinda work round, and that is to set closing down to maximum on the opposition instructions when going through pre match setup. This does not cure it totally but helps somewhat.
Second thing... if you continuing a demo game dont bother... because euro 2008 will be screwed (same as if use no cd crack) Basically the top teams dont take part at all so you get someone like estonia winning it.. basically anyone that qualified doesnt go through, anyone that got knocked out participates. So much to continuing a demo save

using nocd crack and euro08 was fine for me, france beating spain in final
but ye have seen some ss's of it fooked up
been doing that closing down thing, though cant work out if always closing down + always man mark tight is clashing or not

The Hatred no-cd or the Fairlight? I really want to use a no-cd crack so I don't wreck my orginal disc within 6 months like I did with FM07.

I heard the Hatred one was buggy and had lots of triggers that weren't fixed so the game crashed from time to time but there seems to be very little info around.

Bought this today and starting to wish I hadn't!! First game on FM08, decided to take Chesterfield (my home town) in League 2 and see how I got on...
So far in preseason I've lost to Gillingham, Sunderland, Galway(?!?!?) and Rushden and Diamonds and not looked like having a chance in any of them. Not scored a goal yet and shipped about 20.
My chairman wants promotion this season...hrm...

I love this series and i have had everygame that has been released but for the last few years. However i have taken to waiting for at least the second if not third patch to be released before i buy. I hate starting a game discovering bugs, downloading patch and having to start a new game.

Its strange both FM05, 06 and 07. I have just played 4 1 2 1 2 with mixed arrows. And I have managed to win League, Cup and Champ League (playing AC milan) every season.
Without cheating and without any special advanced tactics. I'm pretty confident if you use the standard mixed tactics and buy great players like marcelo, vanden borre in other version. you don't have to do much to win everything.

milan are well known as having a plethora of awesome midfielders but absolutely shite wingers, anyone would ADVISE you to play a 4-1-2-1-2 or a 4-1-3-2 with 'em
and thats kinda how they play irl, so really, your just mimicking how a very successful team plays, and doing it fairly well- point of the game etc

And what team are you? I couldnt even begin to guess with that lineup. Maybe Barcelona.
I still got some original players and I'm onto my 10th season
And got most my original players as coaches still as well. But then I run 2 teams currently. 1 is a british squad, other is foriegn. They play a game each. The ultimate rotation policy

Just started with Man united. Spent 30 mins setting up my own personal player instructions that I swear by and ive won 5 on the trot including victories away at arse and liverpool and rooney has scored 12 goals lol
Although I love Barcelona I seldom play la liga because its too god damn easy, due to the tempo of all the AI clubs being so slow. Its too easy to counter.

i just gave my self 1billion with modifier for abit of fun ... with havant and waterloovile... made rep 100000 and league rep 100000...... bought c.ronaldo.....carragher....gerrard.......torres...rooney. and many more and won every game over 20-0 a game lol so funny

Also...rotate, rotate, rotate. PLayers will not fulfil their potential unless they play often. Also, make sure each coaching category is 7 stars. This page tells you how to get 7 stars in each catergory

At the end of season 9 Im only something like 196 league games without defeat
Last season bojan and rooney scored 53 goals a piece. Each only played 50% of the matches so christ knows what they would have got if I let one of them play every match
And it is very tactical based, shame regens arent quite up to scratch yet, hopefully that be sorted in next patch. But they are ok where I am now mind you, once they hit low 20s they become semi decent, mid 20s they can be great.
