Forget Burnout this just blows it away online is just insane fun and graphicaly its really good.
better than Burnout? Need someone else than Aada to answer this![]()
Its more fun online mate due to insane amount of online modes there is.
My fav so far is head on which starts out as a normal race only when you get to the finish line you have to do a U turn and go back to the start sound easy? not when you have 6-7 other players coming HEAD ON at you if you are in 1st position.
I have been laughing none stop at ramming people all day because you can do some crazy stuff to people.
The handling is pretty shite with the street cars being the worst. The Derby cars surprisingly handle more like the street cars should, despite being tatty old wrecks that are bouncing around on mud.
This opinion is based upon Flatout 2, and maybe this new one doesn't suffer from this kind of stuff. It's a fun game from what I can see and multiplayer is definitely going to be fun (think modern Destruction Derby).
Fun.. but at 360 game prices... I'm not sure it's worth it at all![]()
Have to say having played it now for nearly a week im torn on if i truely feel it was worth getting. Theres so many good games atm that it really falls the the bottom of the pile in my books. If it had come out a month earlier...different story.
It has a real wow factor to begin with but the problem is it frustrates in ways that no game should. The AI combined with the racing model make career stink frankly. The game is awarding medals based on race position but the game is supposed to encourage wrecking. Problem is the risk:reward for crashing is very poor meaning to win you want to avoid crashing. Same across all 3 race types.
Beyond that the handling in this mode is wank and suffers from poor physics modeling in certain interactions. Spinning out when you shouldnt be, getting tons of air for hitting a pebble or being plain STUCK to another car is incredibly irritating when your winning a long race.
Carnage is awesome and presents very real challenges and really lets the crash and carnage aspect of the game shine. Stunts and Debys, top notch (Although the fact your cars spend way too much time on their roof is another bone of contention and doesnt add to the SP gameplay mechanics whatsoever but meh). Carnage mode is great and is how career should of been! Beat the bomb is a bit less fun but still promotes destruction so no problem there.
Mp is a blast and is one of the best for a while. Derby all the way for pure unadulterated fun. If you can force people out of trucks for once its a real test of sharp wits and bravery!
Overall, good game for 2/3 of it. Crap on the other 1/3 is how it boils down to for me. Thats a shame because with games like dirt or forza offering very complete packages, or burnout offering a budget and yet very well rounded lasting appeal it really doesnt stand up so well in my eyes.
Anyhow, I like the game dont get me wrong, but given how much other stuff i have to play at the moment which outshines it in my eyes do i feel its a worthwhile purchase currently? Maybe, but only if you have exhausted all other options.
