heh, no, I said we'd seen R300 running... albeit a rather early chip which had to be subjected to a focused ion beam to get it working... - noone has final silicon yet

oh, and that includes the driver dev teams - they're still working with virtual silicon... and after the news this week that could be for quite a while longer than expected...

I would make a post here quoting Xav and editing the quote to say something like; 'Hi, I believe that lying about nerdy shit will get me respect, I also like to believe that working in Electronic Boutique means I'm in the industry, feer me I'm hard!', however, since I'm in an ambivalent mood, I won't.

Xav works in EB?

What do ya do Xav? You a buyer or manager or something?

Wondered why you were so defensive about GAMEs pricing! :)

I Don't work for EB - the work I do on TechNation is totally unpaid... my main career/job or whatever you want to call it is 'freelance journalist' writing for several rather well known PC magazines... although I also work as a technical consultant for a company in London focusing mainly on enterprise-global networks...

The last few days have seen a few new GAME loyalty cards (replacing the EB ones) pass through my letterbox and straight into the bin, IMO the prices at EB/GAME even with loyalty "bonus" doesn't compare to what you save online.

Only problem is waiting for the game, I only got my pre-ordered NWN yesterday from Jungle :(

I'm never at home to pick up my games parcels. It has to be a shop with spotty goiks in it for me.

Oh, and throughout this thread, it has become clear to me that Xavier doesn't know his arse from his elbow. No change there, then.

...and from what I have read so far, Bodhi has mastered the art of recycling the same comments and posting them throughout the forums. Change the record.

Perhaps you should change careers so that you can afford these, perhaps nursing? Despite its pitiful £16k minimum its more than enough to buy the odd expensive computer game (I remember buying Deus Ex for a hell of a lot a few years ago from some obscure store - I was earning less than £150 a week then and living alone). Hey, you never know, you might even learn how to function as a normal compassionate and communicative human being in the process. Then again.......

If you think £40 is a lot, just think how much you'd spend on beer at the weekend (if you're old enough that is)? You'd probably spend more on a shirt spend less time wearing it than playing the game. Why complain about buying stuff in the store - just don't do it!! Buy the bloody thing online then!!!

True of myself, until my recent 8 week rest before Uni. But, buying from Amazon with their slinky packaging and the recent move towards DVD style boxes, the posty can stuff it through the golden box quite successfully.

Hmm...I think 'a little out of order' is an understatement for the above comment.

One look at you and my libido would vanish for good, I suspect....

tbh. I like GAME and HMV. GAME Chester has very friendly staff who recognise you after a few times of visiting and they do give very good advice concerning games and stuff.

speaking of which I then go and buy them from HMV who's staff dont give a fuck who you are and harrass you as if your gonna run out the door with a CD and hide in the woolys

it's just a thread to have a moan about how much shops are getting away with selling games, not a 'well i used to survive on x amount but still brought it!' :p. it's down to convienence in the end, if your there and u want it, u buy it. if u wanna save go home and order it and wait for it to arrive! wait days! :D

<Snipped lots of non relevant rubbish>

If you feel the need to defend your guy, at least bother to read the thread. No one is saying that £40 is more than they can afford. I suspect the majority of posters in the thread are simply expressing the rather odd fact that Game are more expensive than most other high street stores. I'd certainly rather buy from Game, simply down to them being the daddies of BW, however, that fondness doesn't cover £10/15 on the top compared to a shop 30 seconds away.

Precisely Scoobs. I may be out of work atm, but I have over £3k sitting in the bank, so affordability isn't the issue here, it's the principal of the thing.

And Munkeh: I like Game too, and I usually shop there for all my games, and have done for a number of years now, but imo that doesn't mean I have to ante up when they decide to get the arm in. :)

While I agree in part its your choice where you buy from and if you want to buy it from GAME then you pay the price asked, if not you know where its cheaper.

Read the thread, saw what you were saying, saw you were having a go at Xav (not employed by Game as a matter of fact), posted what I thought. Simple.
