Firefox 6 is near

Yeah i did a complete fresh install of Firefox as opposed to just upgrading it over the top of the v6 to see if it cured the issues with locking up. Sure enough it has sorted it all out nicely and past few days i haven't had one lockup.

Just a shame though, Chrome had some excellent ideas which Firefox haven't used themselves, things like the translation tool (Even though i felt it could be better in Chrome, it worked nicely) and also the private browsing in Chrome was significantly better due to the fact it created a seperate browser instead of taking over the old one, ala Firefox.

tbh much as I'd dearly love Mozilla to win over Google, I have the v7 upgrade and it's still slow as fuck at handling many tabs open at once. I get up to about 6 tabs, and my vaio's fan comes on and things start to slow down. chrome handles that with ease.

I've given up on Firefox now like, constantly hanging for seemingly no reason what so ever. The sad thing is, it's had that problem since about Firefox 4 or 5.

The only thing I miss which Chrome seems to not have, is the top right search bar, where you can search Wikipedia, Last.fm, Amazon, eBay etc. Unless there's an add on for Chrome for that, if there is, a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated

Just use the address bar, it does both jobs and did away with the right hand search box.

Agreed, it's really starting to become pretty shit now as a browser. It started off brilliantly, but it's just got too bloated and unresponsive now. The cycle is now complete, eh Mozilla?

Apparently beta for Firefox 8.0 has started already, friend is trying it out now says it's better on first impressions, but i'm content at the moment with this 7.x

Yes, I hated it at first, deleted it and went back to FF. Then I tried it again after FF jsut couldn't deal with multiple tabs.

Well firefox has run its course with me, sadly as i've used it for years, and never had any problems with it. Since the 6.0 patch I've been getting random freezes, and i cba to reinstall everything as they are the ones who broke it. Time to look for a new browser ;s
