Ditto what I use. I have a key file on a USB stick as well as an encrypted backup of my password database. And an encrypted version of the key file is on my laptop.

They are useful. The keyfile authentication means you can use a fairly straightforward password with the database, and the database allows you to use much stronger passwords on sites you have to log onto. As well as making multiple passwords far more practical.

Lastpass = win. Been using it for over a year. Plus your xmarks wouldn't exist still without it.

Well, I've upgraded to Firefox 4. TBH can't notice any difference in speed compared to how it was yesterday. Meh

Talk to me about LastPass please? I have been using Sxipper for ages but just went up to FF4 after a reinstall and it's not in dev anymore apparently. I just want something whereby I need to put a password in when FF opens in order to be able to use stored passwords. I really liked Sxipper's overlays, never bothered with training forms and stuff (I don't fill forms out that often), is there something else I can use to do the same? I do also like the idea of having a keyfile on a USB stick...

Lastpass is like Sxipper on steroids. It's also cross browser.

LastPass has got a lot of business off the back of the Sony intrusion. I switched over to it to generate unique strong, random passwords for each of my regular sites. I also thoroughly recommend it.

The winning USP for me is the way it syncs up across machines, even my mobile phone (LastPass for Dolphin HD). Granted, you have to pay for the premium version to get use on a mobile, but $12 is only about £7.50 or so for a year.

Also, lastpass allows you to "clean" up a lot of shit. I had saved versions of passwords for sites across multiple browsers, only one of which would be right but I'd forgotten which. Lastpass lets you import them all and sort them out and delete the dross.

Yeah, I'm loving that already. I was only too aware that, before, a lot of my forms and stuff had usernames or worse in them when the page loaded (before the Sxipper overlay popped up). LastPass imported everything from Sxipper then told me to delete everything, basically. It's all so clean and nice now. It's probably something I could've achieved whilst using Sxipper but Lastpass gets the cookie for explaining it to me. :)

In FF I just get an "autofill" option at the top but in Chrome I get "autofill" and "autologin".. I didn't change anything from the default installs of the plugins, is this just a difference between the versions for the different browsers or can I make FF autologin when I click on the user/pass? I know it's lazy (I call it efficient) but it seems like I shouldn't need to click login after it's filled the details in...

My firefox version does this just fine. You have to configure the sites you want to use for autologin (Lastpass icon -> username -> edit -> "check Autologin") as far as I'm aware.

If not check your settings dude.

Yeah in the defence of LastPass I did just chuck everything into it from Sxipper and hope it would work. :) Ta.
