fire island (alb)

hello. ive been farming this one(ml 1.1) lately, and it was going fine with an earth theurg, the pets hit the 3rd(biggest) mob for around 50 /swing (when there was 10 of the pets up.. now ive respecced my theu to ice to deal better damage against these fire mobs, and the ice pets do around 60 /cast(when the same ammount is casted) but they last for a lot shorter time.. so it was a bad idea it seems to respec to ice, because earth dealt better damage against fire mobs.. anybody experienced this, or have an idea what have i been doing wrong? seems very strange to me.

Doesn't the ice pets hit for spirit damage ?
