I just passed selection for the army!

After over 2 years of applying and lots of fun and games I've been offered a place in the infantry, as well as the choice of a couple of traded jobs in Signals, RE and a couple of others, not sure which to take, will look into a trade but if its too far from the sort of thing that goes on in the infantry I think I'll just settle for that.

Just thought I'd let you all know, seeing as I've been yapping about the army on and off for so long It might be as late as september before I get a place, but I depends alot on which job I choose I think. Lots of thinking to do now!

Congrats, but a word to the wise...

Always remember your equipment (especially your ammunition, rifle and body armor) were made by the cheapest bidder and that it's cheaper to have you die and pay your DIS pension + payment than it is to equip you with good body armor...

Oh and ignore Binary Surfer, unlike other Armies we dont rely heavily on equipment. You will be trained on how to eat using no equipment, unlike the US who would be fucked without their gas stoves

Why'd you say that about infantry Sparx? I've heard loads of different things about it all so I'm a bit unsure at the moment, hoping I'll know more after tuesday though

Cause infantry is only good when your in there, get a trade and your setup for the rest of your life. Biggest mistake i made was infantry and i couldve joined any reg with my IQ but i was being a stupid 16 year old and wanted infantry

Grats fella, I am delighted your persistance has paid off.

Signals bud, you will still have a great laugh and go on adventures but you will be learning skills that will be easily transferable to civvy street should you decide to move on eventually. Don't overlook that seriously, there is life after the army but far too many infantry end up as security guards on building sites and in supermarkets.

I am bud, I appreciate the work they do but let us be honest, they get paid poorly and many are on minimum wage.
