Well, yes, bad parenting as such BUT, big but(no pun), i think the kid might have a case of "I wants it!" too.

Meaning, "i wants burgers, i wants chocos, i wants i wants".

The bad parenting might be just caving in to her every want and need.

You can't always control what you kids get up to 100% of the time, but...

Well, how would the 7-year old child be able to buy the candy herself? With money from her parents..
Not like it's that hard to keep candy away from a 7-year old child.

Well...like i said earlier. I don't believe it's as much as the parents fault of stuffing her kid with unhealthy things, but more of the kid wanting stuff and mom giving it.

These days she OFCOURSE eats like a homegrown pig, that's 'cause of the size for one, but i bet she started with...oh say...hamburgers and cola("cause my princess should have what she wants") and over time, little by little, things just progressed.

Also alot of young kids get cash allready, "To teach the value of money" and all those parenting gold wisdoms.

Can't blame the kid in any way, as I see it. At that age, a kid acts as it's been brought up to act, so if the kid wants a lot, it's because of the way the parent has brought it up.

Just saying, it's not a 100% either way.

They feed crap to kids in schools(well, my impression from the..was it jamie kennedy school special), they feed it home, it's just how it seems these days.

Both parents working, quick food for kid, kids getting more and more independent at younger ages and the usual kid wants, kid gets attitude.

It's more of a way modern days work, this is just an extreme case where things weren't changed in time.

I wouldn't call the parents "horrible murdering stuffing kid with 20 hamburgers from 3 years old bastards" still.

how would she spend it? roll to a candystore? ;p

the mom has all the power she needs to stop it, just not the will, but she probably won't realize that until the kid is dead...

Well yes the money thing was a response to the "Well, how would the 7-year old child be able to buy the candy herself? With money from her parents..
Not like it's that hard to keep candy away from a 7-year old child."

Unless it was meant towards the kid in question, then the money point is moot.

Anyway.

I bet there's something wrong with the kid too, they don't get that big, that fast, no matter what the hell they eat.

i couldnt disagree more!
in my humble opinion it's absolutly 100% a parents responcibility to insure you childs well being and health, you cannot go about blaming sociaty and schools. Your the parent your responcible "end of story" if your kids school feeds them junk its up to you to either change the habbit or remove your child from that enviroment, it's also your respocibility as a parent to teach a kid proper health habbits ect and i could go on and on,

saying it's sociaty's fault is just..waaaaaay to easy..
and yeah this is an extreme case, but it dosent change the point.
and especially in this case where your dealing with a 7 year old, and your absolutly right, when childen reach there teens you as a parrent can no longer control them 100% but at this point you should have imbeded commen sence into there little brians, and given them the social tools with wich to cope in sociaty...

Well society IS a problem, this is not the only problem child around.

But it's possibly not a major enough factor in this case.

I guess all the other is a different debate, but i have to say, that there has to be something wrong with the kid to begin with.

I mean, 222 divided by 7 years(if she would've eaten the same amount from birth), she would've needed to gain a kilo/month.

This combined with the fact that at younger age she couldn't have eaten that much without kicking the bucket, means there has to be some metabolical issues here too.

Just saying i don't think it's just "bad parenting" and there's probably something that's left out.

I'm also not saying "Well, they do what they can", it's a bad parenting case too, and as such, an extreme case of what this world is turning into with parenting(the social thing is valid in this).

well, if you want to focus on the social aspect of it, then I'd rather focus on why no one has intervined to stop it. if you take it from that perspective then sure i agree theres a social aspect to it as well.

but again it's the yanks, and yanks are simply sometimes wierd to us europeans.

i know one should never say never, but i highly dout that a similar case would ever be allowed to evolve into such an extreme case, at least here in Denmark. it would have been stopped before it got out of hand either by a doctor, a teacher, social worker ect....

well, if you want to focus on the social aspect of it, t*snip*er, social worker ect....

Your post is quite right, someone should've said something.

But these days even if it takes a village to raise a child, the villagers don't give a f*ck. To be a bit rude.

I actually don't want to partiuclary concentrate on any one aspect, if i had to choose, i'd like to know the medical history. But that's just the lil scientist in me. Just seems odd, human wise.

Never the less, quite "disturbing"(if something would disturb me) and somewhat interesting that this is possible. In all aspects, health, parenting and social aspects included.

Agree with most ppl, the parents are (or should be) to blame, she's only seven, yes? Going to die pretty soon, if she doesn't change her way of life?

Would post what Olgaline said about being a parent and having ultimate responsibility for yr kid/ teaching them etc, but hey, he/she already did it :)

I actually don't want to partiuclary concentrate on any one aspect, if i had to choose, i'd like to know the medical history. But that's just the lil scientist in me.

And surely, as a responsible parent, you'd want to know any medical reasons for your child being so... blatantly abnormal, tbh? even if she has medical problems - thyroid probs, nutritional deficiencies, just chronic over-eating for whatever reason - the answer isn't to stuff her full of crap food? Take her to the medical experts, then! Get it sorted!

On a side note... the other girl in the clip - that's her sister? (at the table) Just curious, because if the mum's the one serving, and she's slim enough, but both daughters are .. well, not slim... could be real psychological problems with the mother, tbh. Over-feeding to show love, blah blah blah.... either way, poor bloody kid
