Well, how would the 7-year old child be able to buy the candy herself? With money from her parents..
Not like it's that hard to keep candy away from a 7-year old child.

Buy it? She couldn't fucking roll to the shops to get it now could she?

That's truely sad. Can only talk from what I've read or seen here, but why would anyone do this to their kid? It's actually quite cruel.

Fattest Child In The World Video

discuss.....

some of it is in german, but basicly the kid is 7 years old and wieghs 222kg,
her mom feeds her with 15 burgers a day and up to 5 liters of coke. + chips & chocolate, total of around 10k calories pr day.

While the moderator says 10k calories per day she means 10000 kilo calories (kcal).

I am 30 years old, 1,86m tall and do a buero like job at the moment, my energy requirement is ~2600 kcal/day.
Assuming the kid is 1,50m tall it has an energy requirement of ~5000 kcal/day so she is currently eating twice of that what is actually needed and getting more fat every day.

Would post what Olgaline said about being a parent and having ultimate responsibility for yr kid/ teaching them etc, but hey, he/she already did it :)

He ;) olga is just the name of my very fist charactor

And surely, as a responsible parent, you'd want to know any medical reasons for your child being so... blatantly abnormal, tbh? even if she has medical problems - thyroid probs, nutritional deficiencies, just chronic over-eating for whatever reason - the answer isn't to stuff her full of crap food? Take her to the medical experts, then! Get it sorted!

Agree

On a side note... the other girl in the clip - that's her sister?
thats her mom,

but i also think there's a bit of a mix in this discussion,
looking at [why] something has happened and looking at who's [responsible]
can be two seperate issues altho the responsible party will always be a contributing factor to the why, but at the same time other parties outside of the directly responsible party can contribute to the the outcome,

did that make any sence ? off to bed with me then....

About parents not taking the kid(yes i'm getting medical) to see Ze Doctor after noticing that she weighs a 100kg at 5(would like to know the fat timeline aswell before judging), they might not have health insurance, might not have cash to take her, the mom might be psychies(as mentioned), the kid might be too...

I'd say live with the family for a week, talk with them, ask what where and who and then judge.

I hate the modern "Oh i saw this on telly it must be just like this" thinking

No offense to any people here, but have to admit, it is kinda like that these days.

Give her (the child) to the authorities ASAP!

Otherwise she wont live more than 3-4 years (sadly)

tbh the parent is the adult and they should be in control for whats best for the child.
as far as i can remember from when i was 7 and from what 7 year olds i knew all we wanted to do was run about like blue arsed flies and you couldnt force us to sit down until we collapsed and demanded sammiges and ribena!

Im just wondering about this situation if it was turned around, if the mother was starving the child how would you feel? it would be damaging to the child same as over feeding, the child could go and gets its own food as some here have suggested she has been doing so would it be up to the child to feed its self? would it be acceptable for the mother to retain custody over the child if she was starving it?

personally i see it as abuse, ignorance is not an excuse when there is a life at stake the old "I didnt know" or "I only thought i was doing what was best" really does not even count as a factor, its abuse plane and simple, whether they knew or not doesnt stop it from being so.

A child can love a hamster so much it literally squeezes it to death, whether the motivce was love or hate and the deed was done knowingly or not doesnt change the fact that the hamster is dead.

How the hell did her parents even let her get that fat? Surely there must be some point at where you'd consider that your own child needs to lose some weight before the situation gets too serious?

I can understand that it may be more difficult these days with the amount of junk food which is around, but this should've been sorted a long time ago.

I seen that in an episode of CSI, some guy escaped his carer and ate till he popped.

Ths Kid's fat, like maybe ket ur kids get chubby but that kid can barley walk to the kitchen, she would have no hope getting to food if it was in the top cupboard or somesuch.

There is a big difference between starving and that. Now i'm sure the 'little' girl is starving if she doesnt eat 15 burgers but that's not the question. It has started some time ago when the mother, step by step, let her eat whatever she wants, whenever she wants, wherever she wants.

So. I bet you the mother could stop this before but she went on over-feeding and over-feeding her daughter.

I'm not an expert, but in my humble opinion 95% of the blame starts and stops with the parents.

The parents do have the ability to stop a child from becomming dangerously overwieght through over-eating. Parents have the ability to ground thier kids, so they cant go outside to get food elsewhere, once done, they then have the ability to moderate what the child has access to, even if it means putting padlocks on the fridge and the cupboards, the parent does have the ability to control this.

The parents also have the moral responsibility to ensure thier child does not endanger themself through reckless behaviour. In the same way that most responsible parents would stop thier children from playing tag on a motorway, they should also stop thier children from letting thier lifestyle become dangerously unhealthy. Again, they do have the ability to moderate and control this. Whether its encouraging thier child to go to the gym or engage in other healthy activities (swimming/football/other sports). There are ways to ensure that a child gets exercise, and imo its the parent who is mostly responsible for ensuring a child gets enough of it.

Just my opinion anyways :)

anyway, its a sad sad story

Aye, mentioned the medical thingy. It gets widely ignored :p

the mother MUST have known something was wrong at some point, not going to the doctor when you notice something like that is neglect and bad parenting...

To a point.

all the way when the kid is 7 years old. not so much when she's move out of the house.

its the MOTHER that feeds her, end off.

theres no excuse what so ever for allowing a kid to get that fucking fat without getting help.

You might not be able to get medical help. No cash etc. It's not as easy everywhere.

About the mother feeding her, might be the father doing the feeding, or big sister/brother if both parents are at work. The kid might have a stash of choccies in her room, get some from grandparents who take care of her and loads more. I know i got some choccies from our neighbor lady when i was 5 or 6, diabetic, so i hid them and ate them on my way to school.

Just too easy to just go "ok look bad parent" due to some news agency video which doesn't give out facts to save its life.

Couldn't agree more, whilst its in some cases bad parenting is clearly the case there is far too many external factors that we are not away of to make a fair and reasonable judgement on this women.

Always makes me angry whe I see a fat child, parents are the ones that control diet of children and its this laxness w/ regards to fodd that has fueled the obesity problem in the UK today.

That combined with computers and consoles so children don't go out and play football or run around any more they play GT3 and eat pies. When I was at school, burgers and chips were served everyday and of course the government didn't give a shit untill the media got hold of it. Now, they have started to do something about it but the parents still have the attitude of when they went to school and that will be a hard thing to break.

yup, obesity is on the rise in europe as well, we'r still far from US numbers but it's without a dout on the rise, especially child/youth related obesity.

I really hope we dont end up with the same obesity health related issues here in europe, "last i read" the youth obesity rate in the Usa is above 60%
