If a game controls all your free time and it's also beginning to affect your real life, it is definately time to stop. But I truly hope that you can settle your rl, move your butt back to school on a regular basis and after a break.....return to us from time to time. Who knows...maybe some people on your friendslist will still be there after you return.

My "virtual" person will be on the lookout for your "virtual" one But hey...since both our persons have the "Property of GOA/Mythic"-stamp on their butt....doesn't that mean, that..........bah....this is getting silly

Anyway, real life will always be more fun than DaoC, hope you find studies/job u actually enjoy doing, travel, meet people.

Studying already is a heavy schedule, often heavier than most people's jobs, so it takes a lot of time already. I understand you might HAVE to do so. Lots of your free tiem can be spent outside meeting rela peopel too

Maybe later u'll coem back in a more casual player way, then it will be a pleasure to meet you agazin (if I'm still around)

Why are you playing then at all? Maybe we have different opinion or taste but IMO RL is very, very boring at times. Yeah, RL > DAoC when you actually got something to do (like drinking ) you enjoy, but playing is fun, atleast to me.

Personally I can't understand how some people let it get so out of control. School started up for me 1 month ago. Before that I played for hours on end and have a lot of fun. Since school started I play for ½ hour at a time as a break from homework here and there (would explain 3½ weeks on lvl 44). It's all about priorities. DAoC is a sorce of temporary pleasure. Play it for what it is, something to kill time with and have fun. School/work is a source of long lasting pleasure (ie having a roof over your head and clothes on your back).

If you can't get your act together as long as you have an active account then I say by all means, delete the chars and burn the game. But there is also another choice. A less drastic choice. prioritize. evaluate your life and fill in the holes. If one of the holes is not enough time for social life or homework then you take 4 of the 7 hours a day you play the game and put them into RL.

I admire your choice tho. You know what you need to do and if deleting your chars is the only way to do it then that's what must be done.

It was hard decission for sure. You will be missed much.
I knew you Niljindil a bit. I had fun time when we was leveling on pookhas or grovewood (I will never forget that 10 or 12 Groovewood pull ).

But it was I think wise decission, since you was already missing school classes. In my opinion education, friends and family are most importand things in life. But dont be sad, there is still whole life before you and I am sure you will fullfill it.
As it is now, I am now on military service, which is MUST in our country and I am finishing this MUST in february next year. I am sure I will be standing at the same point as you, because then I should be back to my normal work and normal life.

You saying you playing this game to much , so you quit.I have heart this alot on the forum , mostly the post goes like the one your wrote , i have no RL , go bad on school , waste of time ect.

What i dont get is , why does it have to be "play all day long" or "dont play at all" , i take (and so do others) midle road , like treson said control the game , play when you have time and have some fun.

If i wouldnt stop playing, i would come back.. and play again.. thats what ive been doing for 2 years.. promising myself that i would put school first.. and well.. now.. when i started all over again.. i was -><- close from spoiling it again cuz i was lieing to myself.

The thing is dreama, the "get my life together" havent been working at all for the past 2 years... and i just cant do it. This was the only solution i have ever found that would actually work without feeding myself with lies.

But.. anyway.. of course you can have fun in the game, thats not my point, but when you dont do it because you *want* to play.. but because you *need* to play. This "fun" is just a total waste of time.. like drinking for no reason or smoking tonnes of cigarretes all day long.

Oh, and to gorguss, if you are serious about that, i really wish you good luck, because i know myself, that its not an easy thing to do.

I want to say more...

I must say taking 'middle road' is best. So Niljindil and Tzeentch, you are quiting DAoC, but that doesn't mean you should stop playing games for your whole life. You should set up some priorities. You are young, you have your school. You should finish it. I was also playing games much when I was at your age and I finished university without a problem (of course it was not walk through pink garden).

So this means if you like playing games, play it, but only when u have spare time and homework done. And good idea is to set up priorities also for spare time. So when there is good film in cinema go see it with friends

i smoke crack

There are 2 forms of crack abuser. no1 the user smokes all the crack in one go, gets well off his head . the 2nd user smokes a bit everyday always making sure he has enough for tormorrow.

Now which is the worst type of user????


The second user is the worst. The fact that he is using it all the time means he will get more addicted syndroms. (This is based on anti-drugs research)

So youre probably thinking i been smoking crack and saying wtf does this got to do with the thread?

Well i can sorta see the resemblance in games.

1) person is a console player, plays new games for a month all day all night, nevers plays it again after a month.

2) person plays 2 hours everynight, then it becomes 5 hours during one night and snice then the same every night. As the user plays the game more and more, he gets the repetivie syndrome.


Situation : user is in a dilemmna, does he go out for his mates birthday and get totally wasted, or does he stay in for that really important dragon hunt, in which he knows he getting a uber loot from?


On a personal note i went to univ for 4 years and never played a single game, except on a shitty playstation. I never missed it, not when there so many girllies out there

But serioulsy the college, univ days are very limited. 4-6 years can go very quick, and if you are spending half that time playing games, you are wasting ur time. End of the day, once you get ur results, you can play till ur 70 years old and ur eyes fall out of their sockets. Thats like 50 years waiting for you after univ, college.

please remember i smoke crack and i need ur money, cause i wasted all my life on mmmmmmmmorpgs and drop out of univ and girlfriend with double ee cups has lefted me.

These mmrpgs are damn addictive, and the amount of time people put into this game they could have spent becoming a master programmer or a damn good web designer... i

nstead they know DAOC like the back of their hand...

I have been thinking exactly the same thing lately, that this game is taking up to much of my time... I find myself planning what Im going to do next in the game and this has a big impact on what I do outside of daoc....

The absolute key to playing these games is to limit the time you allow yourself to spend playing them.... and balance that with a normal healthy lifestyle if possible...

You are right anyone with more than 40 days played is hardcore and needs to have a look at where they are heading in life....

Lucky for me I didnt discover mmrpgs untill way after I graduated, and I have enough qualifications to get me by now... (and a half decent job ((45k+ a year)))
