/bow before and /salute or /bow after a fight has nothing to do with arranging duels or farming rp´s, it´s a simple matter of displaying respect and fairplay, just like you would shake hands before and after any good sports match IRL. If I win a duel, I usually /salute if I think the fight was worth it... doesn´t make me a rp farmer though I hope.
Same goes for respecting other people´s duels. You´re perfectly in the right when you say that you won´t repect them and add because for you, the game is a large scale battle scenario. Fair enough. However, there are people with different POV´s and their POV´s are as valid as anybody elses POV. I don´t think you can reduce other people´s playstyle or tastes to just "enlarge your e-peen" attitude. That´s way too simple in my opinion.

the point you are on about is just some other person that grouped with this bodyguard and thought he sucked in what he did. I contradicted by saying if you bodyguard you focus on one person. A BG player should switch targets, the same way guard is used. You stick to one toon all fight with BG, people tend to die. The hardest thing about BG is getting people to stand still, which when you group with people who are not used to BG, it's really irratating and they go 'I THOUGHT YOU HAD BG? GIMPO!'. The fun!

i think i'm not the person here that hasn't got a clue about rvr..


this is how some of you see it imo:

you get on line, you want your fun, you forget that there are about 600 other ppl that have the same idea. You are in a guild with 8 team-speak using ppl (8 communicating comrades is neat) that are able to function as a small detachment. You think you run this RVR scene. You make sure that you have your way of fun and boycot the serious fighting that is at hand. You arrange RVR as you see fit, you sell out on the Spirit of the realm as a whole, You create diversity in a unit, You discriminate ppl from your so called Pro-scene (irc box). You get confirmation from the 16-20 yr old scene so You think you are cool.

I'm sorry to hear that You ppl are sick and tired of the basics of this game as a whole. I'm sorry to hear that you think what you approve, as in entering your own ethics and policies about how RVR should be instead of the base concept of it all, is the way you have your fun.

there are no ethics..it is war out there, RVR is not a dating scene nor is it a confirmation on what you think you are or want to prove you are. In here killing each other is not a "friendly" sports match where you , as quoted, "shake hands or salute" before you trash each others skull in.
The basics of it all is simple: you talk to the enemy, it is treason, you should be linched accordingly.
If you want to have peace with the other realms, move out of this universe. If you want to see how good you are, stat wise, move out of this universe, or test your skills in dueling other champions in our own realm.

this place here, excalibur, is a place of eternal warfare, if you are sick of it... go away. There are other spots that had the base intention of providing other fullfillments. (pvp server, other universes)

why i appose to your IRC stuff?

this is the sheme used for the conversation most kids have on IRC upon finding a new channel:

Extend this version (as in becomming "friends" etc.) a bit more and you'll find every kids way of handling the contents of rvr using out of game stuff.
They haven't got the crainial capacities to handle it maturely and they don't know where to draw the line. Because to them there is no line, there are no rules.(viva i-net, the place without a face)

I repsect verry few high realm ranks, but i still do respect some, i know some that are spirited and fight honest and truthfully , they stick to the concept. They are more then happy with their fellow realm comrades and fight with them.
And no i ain't jealous, as quoted above. To me having a RR isn't important, i do feel a certain joye in seeing that i have obtained a certain level after i have had a good fight, and the occasional grtz from me fellow fighters is appreciated from my side as well..
But i don't seek mass confirmation, when it comes to realm rank, like all those here on FH who need their RR gratz thread to see how many fellow e-peens think alike. And yes i do have higher RR toonS, but since i'm sticking to usefull fights and ain't verry fond of the aimless roaming and hunting without a cause (although it happens i'm out in the field in a group that does do that from time to time) i don't focus on getting higher.
Every point i earned from a rank will have been (mostly) in a situation where I was defending or joining an offecence in the struggle for relic power. (roaming emain atm hopeing that there will be enough interest into expanding our power in Hibernia to open gates)


RVR as it is atm on our server, the pre arranged , "don't conquer we like it" situation. sucks imo.
Two weeks ago, or was it 3, those stupid pricks organized and settled RVR for their personal benefit, not thinking of the majority.
Since two weeks now, albs have conquered a CK in emain, it was given to them. By the end of the following week... as arranged by a couple off ppl... the battlefield will move to midgard, where hibs and albs will be given a CK and towers so ppl can zerg odins for a while.


see how you ppl fucked up rvr?

thanks to the actions of those idiots, rvr became nothing more then: The irc dating chumps initiate an action, the uninformed players will help the offence because they also want to play a part in that war.(thinking it is genuine).. this makes the IRC chumps their job a lot easier, hereby succeeding in their planned goal.

You have destroyed the only possibility of making sure that everything still has it's natural way of going. You are the reason why a LOT of ppl are cancelling their subs. You are the reason why daoc will come to an end, leaving nothing more then the hard-core to fight each other over and over and over again. Eventually getting sick of it..or grow up and realize they fucked it up ;-)

Not sure where you live, but there´s no war out there where I live. You´re mixing up a game with RL apparently. Mids and HIbs aren´t my "enemies"... they just happen to play my opponents in a computergame.

Let me give you some hints.. since you claim to be !in the know" about the ethics and spirits of this game, games in general and warfare.
Chess is a simulation of a battle... the main objective is to kill your opponent. Still, people are respecting each other, shaking hands and say "well done" when the fight is over.
Boxers are shaking hands before they´re smashing their heads in.
In all Cyber Sport games, people say "gl, hf before and gg after the game. At least if we´re talking about people whith manners and an age > 10.

In medieval battles (you know.. the RL war situations!), asking for "honorable combat" was a well known feature. When 2 opposing armies met for a battle, single fighters of each side would step forward to their opponents (without add... I mean archers spamming them with arrows), challenging respected enemy fighers for a solo duel. Nobody added, nobody said "this is war FFS, kill the f00ker".
This was considered chivalrous and refusing the challenge or even killing the exposed challenger was considered unchivalrous.
Only after the solo challenges were fought, the battle began. It´s amazing that you - being a roleplayer (no negative connotation intended) - aren´t familiar with the concepts of chivalry or fairplay as it´s called today.

Another example? After Baron v. Richthoven (a pretty high RR dude iirc ) was killed in WW1, the english army dropped condolence letters above the german airodrom, displaying respect for their enemy.

So... if you´re talking about ethics in battle simulations, you better think twice and get some informations. The world isn´t shaped in the easy black/white scheme you´re trying to describe. The fact that this game is simulating a battle between 3 realms doesn´t mean that there are no ethics except "kill enemy fast". If that was the case, it wouldn´t be fun. You aren´t gonna teach me or anyone else how I have to behave and treat the people I´m playing with.

If you want to have peace with the other realms, move out of this universe.

If you want to have total war without all kinds of ethics and morale, go play against a computer.

i do shake ppl their hands when i meet them in RL, because i can draw that line. When the fight is on, as in "in here", no hands are shaken. When the fight is over, as in "out there", they can be my rl mates, as they are to me.
