they'll use the hand of god and finish us :( Cheating gits.

On the bright side, if we did rule the Argies, would that mean we could pick Messi and Tevez for England? :D

You'd better be quick before they sign up to play for the Italian rugby union team :p

How about sending all of our prison inmates to live on the falklands.

I was thinking that while I was out there. There's still quite a lot of stuff that could improve the islands, the roads for example are gravel roads with oversized ditches, thanks to an error in average rainfall. The bridge that conects East and West Falkland is no longer safe to use. And the islands main source of income bizarrely is tourism, so things always need to be kept clean and tidy. Send the convicts to actually do some work and suffer for their crimes.
Of course it would infridge on their human rights to be so far away from their familys or something. It's ok for the soldiers to be out there for months on end, but we mustn't upset the prisoners and their human rights :twak:

I'm almost hoping the argies do kick off again, I'm still on reserve and it would be an interesting change of pace for me to good back in again for a few months.

It would be nice after all the IED's to be fighting a conventional war against an opponent whos technologically 50 years behind us...

back to the good old days of the empire then, fuzzywuzzies with grass skirts and visciously sharp mangoes, etc

Tourism on a prison island might not work out too well.

Make it a tax free zone, stick casinos and a few hotels on it and a relaxed attitude towards Russian hookers; when the oil workers need R&R, you're quids in. Will need a decent airport as well.

That makes no sense.

Argentina has a load of english football pros playing for their teams right?

now if argentina started a war against england, you think those football pros would just keep playing? :)

no they would pack up and go home to england. and as we all know, argentina is a fanatical football country that easily rivals the UK, so the argentinian population probably wouldn't be that happy about it so they would start a revolt :)

Are you an oil worker stuck on a rig in the South Atlantic? WELL ARE YOU? No, you are not, so shush.

Besides, casinos are often in awful places; Las Vegas for example.

Hmm 6 Trillion dollars worth of oil down there (at 100 dollars a barrel as we will undoubtably be back to soon) - sure will cost a few billion to extract it but hey - think of the tax money :)

Isnt Argentina being a bit silly setting up a blockade? Surely they would benefit from a lot of trade if the oil fields get setup as they would be crying out for supplies?

mine is only 5 years, got another 2 to do.

That would be a rather large bridge. I think you mean Bodie Creek Suspension Bridge.

Lol that's just something some jumped up army corporal told me once and I never really thought about it until just now. Although I suppose it's more a case of who's the more foolish, the fool or the fool that listened to some prick from the army :)

Not really, because resupply contracts aren't guaranteed and are worth jack shit compared to the oil revenues themselves. The problem Argentina has is that they really need a minumum of a power or resource sharing deal becuase all of the reserves are actually east of the Falklands, so there's nowt for them to get their hands on directly (if the fields were sat between the Falklands and the mainland most of these arguments wouldn't be happening).

As I said in an earlier post, Argentina probably couldn't do much to follow up on their threats at the moment; but things change quickly; a deal with Chavez for the loan of his SU-35s or a promise to the Chinese for a cut of revenues (or a future price cap) in exchange for kit, and the UK would be pretty exposed. Maybe someone in Whitehall should get their fucking finger out and sort out the new carriers...

sounds like sour grapes to me. All you have is fine blonde women and snow. Where will your women go when they realise all you have to offer them is snow eh? eh? They will come to Britain!
