The underlying point of this entire thread is BarrysWorld isnt what it used to be. Or more accurately the BarrysWorld community isnt what it used to be. Try to keep 'BarrysWorld' and 'The Community' separate, as the games service has undoubtably got better.

Unfortunately as more and more retards are allowed on the internet, the unique nature of what was 'The Community' is irreversibly spoilt (for the old guard like me). At this point it is time to blow out the candle of hope and move on. This doesnt mean i'm gone, I still speak to Ted/DBs/Zarj as I did before, just as friends not colleagues or fellow gamers.

I have found my 'New Community', for those that moan about the retards, I suggest you quit moaning and move on to a more pleasant place. The retard steamroller just isnt gonna stop no matter how loud you shout.

Honestly Throd, you dont think this forum has changed in the last 2 years? Im not what you would class as one of the "old guard" but Ive pretty much given up with it since over the last 3-4 months its become incredibly dull, and as for the game servers, whilst the quality may be top notch, no-one plays on them anymore due to BW's piss poor advertising.

Look at Nos's post above . Futile ? Pretty much. The point of forums for me was to find out about different games I play , how to make them work well, etc etc.
But lots of people on this forum (I mean the Whole BW forums btw, not just the General one ) dont even play online games, they just post on here to amuse themselves, as is thier right I suppose. I'm told lots of people use irc without ever really playing online games. Its not for me, but thier choice I guess. However its a bit nieve to imagine that everything will be rosey and "all these newcomers " are ruining things . Its just the way of the world really. Anyone (except you and me Willier !) can get a cable modem these days. There are bound to be more idiots online.
As far as this General forum goes, well Id probably agree it is quite crap. Quite a lot of people here with points to prove that they possibly cant prove irl maybe ?
The servers ? Well yeah, the advertising was crap . Utter crap. Maybe with all the opinions being chucked about on these forums the staff at BW thought loads of people new about the change. Perhaps what they failed to realise was that the pseudo-l33t posters on here as a rule dont actually play cs, or whatever game, and consequently their opinons should be taken with a pinch of salt ?

Yes, this is where you will find most of the people that 'used' to play a lot of games. These are the sort of people that are bored at work and have got nothing better to do. I include myself in this catagory, most of my more antagonising posts are when I feel like a good arguement as I have nowt important to do at work.

The original offending thread started due to a discussion on irc. So this is totally relavent. Your right, I dont post here that much, but my point is relavent to all forms of internet media. I am primarily an IRC person, I've got IRC access at work, so thats where you will find me most of the time. The discussions are the same, the 'genre' of people are the same. So the amount of retards is the same. The only difference between IRC and the forums is the real time aspect of IRC and its broadcast nature, ie offending material cannot be deleted. People can only be punished after the event.
