Apologies for the rant but I'm fuming right now. I've just wasted an entire day sat at home waiting for a delivery only to check the website and find that apparantly the retard of a driver claims there was nobody home and left a card. A/ I can see no card and more importantly B/ I was in all f**king day. I phone up to be told that I'll have to wait until tomorrow for my delivery now despite my paying for the next day service and even then I know the driver might not bother to show up again and pretend he did. How do they get away with it?

Which company? UPS and DHL have both done this to me before.

Shittylink do it as routine, the idea is to stand at your door all day and fling yourself in front of the van to show you are home, otherwise they just drive back to the depot (which is always miles away)

I try to avoid any company that uses them.

Yep shittylink are the culprits in this case. How are they still in business if they're doubling their fuel costs like this. It scares me to think I applied for a job with these types of companies. Making a complaint now, call me optimistic.

im suprised they do this, you only qualify to use them if you use there service to the tune of £300 a week, thier T&C states that thier drivers stick around for 5 mins before leaving notice

Contact the company you ordered from and request a refund for the entire postage and packaging. You've paid for it and not received it.

Most sane companies would be happy to oblige with this. It won't instantly bring your package to you, but you'll get something back.

i missed a Shittylink delivery a while back. heard the letterbox flap bang, went to look, "sorry, you werent in", well ; a) i was , b) he hadnt knocked at an audible level, and most amusingly , c) "we tried to deliver at 11.00am". not bad seeing as it was 10.40 at the time, obviously put that down figuring he wouldnt be picked up on it and have a longer lunch break

hate em :(

Ive always had good service from couriers, must be a regional thing. i think in a lot of cases it must be down to drivers that cant be arsed - in other words, lazy fuckers that should be sacked.

I've had problems with Citylink myself - a number of cases of invisible cards and non-existent delivery attempts - I now shun any company that uses them.

They must be the cheapest but by god are they awfull and the depots fucking miles away which doesnt help things!

Play.com use them - I had items not turn up for weeks then just as I'm looking to cancel and get a refund I find play already refunded me because the item was returned after attempts to deliver it - a card was supposedly left (never saw it) so the item sits at the depot and finally gets returned.

Even Royal Mail are better than Citylink and they are bad enough :p

screw a written complaint, call in, rant like a madman - the ones answering phones has no responsebility so they will let your call go up - keep doing this every day till they pay you 1 days work of pay in lost work or what ya call it

Hmm that sucks :( Can't say I've ever had problems with delivery services myself but if that happened to me I'd probably put a note on the door saying "Knock loudly or call my mobile if I don't answer because I AM in" or something so there's no excuse for them being crafty.

this has happened i think to me and wpkenny, the bloke puts the card throught the door (he didnt knock), i hear it, then go outside and find the bloke in the delivery van just about to fuck off, i say "i am in mate can i have my package" he says "erm, oh no, its not on the van its at the depot........"

so i ask him why he has left me a card saying he tried top deliver something thats not on his van.

he can't really answer that can he, so he says he can get it delivered tomorrow. i say i want it today as thats why i got next day delivery, he says he cant sort it out, so he fucks off. i ring up and complain but apparently they cant find it in the depot. so i never get it delivered.

I send out hundreds of packages a month. Couriers are a big problem - they will generally do fuck all to help the recipient of a parcel.

You need to put pressure on the company that is sending the goods out. My customers have a crap time when they try and sort it directly with the courier but if they contact me I can generally get it fixed. "Hi generic courier company sort this out or I'll take my £20k / year to someone else who's equally retarded". Oh look now you get off your arses and do something - great.

There are a lot of courier companies about and they are generally all shit because the end guy they employ from an agency is probably unemployable but has a driving license so he's got a job. Hi to all the drivers reading this :touch:

Having said all this I have a great working relationship with the depot I currently use - and they go out of their way to help me. Shame they're let down by the rest of their company so often.

Citylink are arse. Before now I've been checking the status of a package on their website (when I've been in waiting for it) to see what's going on only for it to come up with "card left" or whatever the term is and no card in my hallway.

I hate them most because my nearest depot is miles away in Wimbledon.

It being that common with City Link makes me think this might be a standard process the courier's are told to do by the company.

I think we may have uncovered a conspiracy here. Perhaps they're saving fuel costs by not delivering unless there is a certain number required for your area but still charging you next day delievery service.

I'm currently sat in my bedroom at the front of the house with the window open so I can hear the sneaky bastard pull up. It's cold and I'm getting bored. I'm toying with the idea of giving the guy some verbal abuse when/if he shows, what do you guys reckon? Obviously I'll have something to :twak: him with if he fights back.

Wait for him to walk up your drive then poke your arse out the window and do a turd on him, but (and this is the important bit) don't answer the door when he knocks. I know you will have to wait another day for your parcel but he has to explain why hes covered in human turd at a house which he carded because no one was in.

clever I like it

However  IT'S HERE!!! I said nothing no hello no thankyou or anything, just a scowl and grunt. Bet he's bricking it back to the depot now.

Scruffy looking twat dangerously close to mullet territory. I'm a driver too but I just landed a job working for the NHS transporting and sterilising surgical equipment which means I get to work with nurses and as a result can look down on these common drivers.

If you get stuff delivered to your office, its a lot more likely it will get delivered on time properly, because you can bet that same courier does multiple drops there (well, in my case, 800 person office) weekly and cant risk pissing off potentially valuable punters.

Considering the amount of problems they cause, yes.

Everyone blames the retailer instead of the courier, it would be nice to get them on TV to sort out their act.

The consumer should never have to deal with the courier apart from when they say "thanks" and close the door. You give your money to the retailler, therefore its the retailler's responsiblity. It's their job to manage their suppliers, and a courier is just a supplier. I dont see why it should be any different.

That makes a couple of assumptions; firstly that the retailer has real choice; I've had some of the worst delivery experiences with the most expensive (for the retailer) couriers, UPS, DHL, and yes, Citylink (also White Arrow), and I mean this as a customer and as a retailer. Due to the explosion in e-commerce volumes, its a bit of a seller's market for couriers; a lot of the time there's not enough capacity to go around, so couriers can set the agenda. And of course retailers do beat up couriers all the time (its the retailer's call centres that take all the shit from unhappy customers, not usually the courier). Also, in a price driven market, if people expect things like free delivery, they should also a expect a subsequent drop in the quality of the service. Ain't no such thing as a free lunch.

While the customer shouldn't, as you say, have to "deal" with the courier; customers should expose bad couriers so retailers have the tools to make them perform better. Home delivery is still the biggest weak link in most e-commerce offerings.

I've had issues with shittylink too. Fuckers don't deliver to my house, ever.

I'm sitting downstairs, all day, window next to door open, music on, loud enough to be heard from outside. Waiting for a next day delivery that was "being delivered" from 8.30 AM, so I was constantly looking for the van all day.

No dice.

At 6.30, neighbour knocks on the door, saying she signed for a parcel because no one was in. BOLLOX! The doorbell wakes me up when i'm sleeping, there's no way I wouldn't hear it if I was sitting next to the damn thing.

Only had one bad experience with Citylink and that was when the delivery driver managed to smash a case of wine over a motherboard i'd ordered. The guy had the cheek to try and get me to sign for it anyway, heh.

Must have been driving like a fricking lunatic or not packed the van properly to have a managed it 0o
