Question External HDD

I'm after a external 3 or 4tb HDD, i've used Seagate ones in the past. Are they still ok or can anyone recommend a better one?

Any reason why you cannot put a drive in your PC? That is ok btw, it is a brick with a power supply, ie it is not USB powered.

USB 3 or it's really really pointless imo (unless you use externally accessable SATA).

Yeah, especially with a large drive, the difference in transfer speeds between USB2 and USB3 is staggering. I've always used WD My Book drives (1x1.5tb, 2x2tb, 1x3tb and 1x4tb), they've mostly been retired to offline backup duty now but they're still all going strong.
