the argies are my tip for winners, reckon they're going to go all the way.

the ivory coast haven't got a bad side, but can't see them getting past holland and argentina to qualify for the last 16.

4 english arrests and riot police in frankfurt and it's not even kicked off yet

I'm watching all the games at home with my step grandad as he doesn't know much about football so I feel like a guru imparting my knowledge to him, and also he has a massive telly and shitload of food/beerski.

I support England, but I don't really get that excited over international football. I'm looking forward to the new season much more, but basically I'll cheer on any Arsenal player in international games. :) I find it hard to cheer for any side that features Neville and Joe Cole. :(

I know we won, and I'm no pundit - but it looks like we suck.

Indeed, crosses into the box were dreadful, and there were worrying holes at the back at times. We'll need to improve if we hope to go any further in the knockout stages.

It was dire, I don't think sven knows the strengths or weakness's of the team or is just incompettent. Anyway we aren't going to win the World Cup if England continue's to play like that, we only won on an own goal...

First half was good, second half was pretty bad.

Paraguay did have 12 men on the pitch though.

Bit of a waste of an afternoon in the pub really....

A result, but what a load of donkeys, noone in my mind stood out in the whole team (well terry and lampard seemed to be at least trying to play the game) We got lucky..

And, why, why why do our managers always go for a defensive formation when we are in the lead. Why I ask you!

*hic* beer drinking on a sunny afternoon was good though!

Hope this shuts up the cabbages who think England will win the world cup.

I said all along this would be a dire game and that England were shite, or is it the manager thats shite?

To not take DeFoe along is sheer madness, Crouch is useless unless its against a third world footballing side. Why isn't Darren Bent there either? Why is Hargreaves there?

crouch gives england something nobody else can. his sheer size can be impossible to defend against but he was hindered today by rubbish service and the referee constantly penalising him.

defoe's not that good but would be a better option than walcott.

bent's shite.

hargreaves is sven's lovechild.

Crouch is great. Opponents can't deal with him, and hes fairly unique. I thought him and J.Cole were our best players today and Crouch only waned once Owen went off (Crouch is not a lone striker.. :() Downing was ineffectual, and Hargreaves is just not as good as Carrick.

Good first half, awful second. Killed the mood in the pub. Still nice sunny day, a win is a win.

Sitting in the sun since and drinking, can't really moan :)

I agree.. its actually amusing hearing everyone saying we have a good chance this year.

Also yesterday everyone was yelling were gonna win it!!!! me and the gf said wtf they only won because of an own goal and now they are an amazing side?

England sucks thats the truth.

Well that was just plain awfull to watch I thought my eyes were going to start bleeding. Fair do's we have got the result. As Arsene Wenger said before the Euro Cup final Brazil always have the mentallity and obligation to go out and win the game in style. Why can't England do that and get away from this "Well at least we got the three points" Mentallity. We have the players to do it and do it with style.

Result aside the only real postive for me was the performance of Joe Cole. I think he has the maturity, confidence and skill to go and beat a man or two and set players up yet we only saw glimpses of it today. Same with Stevie G. Not that I blame him for one minute but where was the powerfull bursts from midfield ? Where was the fullbacks over lapping and putting the ball in the box low and hard. Not Ashley Coles biggest fans but one of his and Gary Neville's skills is playing as attacking full backs.

Greatest respect to Peter Crouch but he is not international class. A lot of huff n puff and you can get away with that in freindlys and qualifying but these are the finals. There are not many bad teams in it. If he is the answer we are sure as hell asking the wrong questions. Did Lampard turn up today ?

I was fed up of hearing Motty say "Great Knock down from Crouch" We had a plan A to get it upto him as early as possible and that didnt work. After that plan b was being worked out on the bench. Substituting Owen for Tactical reasons ????

A win is a win.

A few years ago we would have drawn or even lost that game.

The heat in 2nd half also didn't help.

We will improve as the tournament goes on, and Rooney will be back to give us an extra attacking edge.

COME ON ENGLAND!!

Look at the Ivory Coast and Argie game, tell me if England would beat either of those teams.

They would get battered, same if we played Germany as well. Infact Ecuador would batter us and I aren't sure we will beat Trinidad tbh.

Trem you miserable sod. I hope to make you eat those words!

I am telling it like it is luv, English fans always say how great we are when in reality we are really quite bad :D

I guess its the arrogance the jocks talk about with us.

I am looking forward to the cricket tbh, is it really a year? Infact am I confused, do they have the ashes every year?

Nearly every England player blamed the heat on their inability to perform in the second half. Maybe people should actually consider that might have been a factor before slagging the team off completely.

Then again, all it needs is one good performance and everyone slagging them off will be declaring how certain it is that England will win this year.

Certainly can't have helped that the ref was getting pissy when they went for some water.
