May as well answer this.. £200 wont get much of an engagement ring, especially in the UK. It will get you something but it wont be of much quality unfortunately, if that is what matters to you (ie the diamond route etc).

If you can get abroad and get one whilst there then you get much more for your money. I got engaged a couple years back whilst out in cyprus. The ring cost me about the £600-700 mark (cant remember exactly what it was.). To get an equivelant diamond weight& design in the UK would cost in excess of £2000, and that would be with ungraded diamonds whereas there a high grade diamond in that which i purchased.

Actually booking up the wedding for next year currently, guess 10yrs is long enough to make the misses wait

However, just get whatever suits the pair of you. There no reason you have to go down the traditional diamond route, although it is what most females would prefer you to do there are other ways

One thing I'd say if you went for diamonds though is make sure they're kosher. Not sure I'd like the idea of putting a ring on the finger of the woman I loved which was collected via murderings and general assholery...

Not that I think you can get them in England anymore without going to some seriously dodgy places...
