Dye problem

I had just completed the new cloak quest in catacombs and I thought Id dye it black. Was a bit tired and I accidently dyed my Legion robe (robes of the diabolic) instead of the cloak (duh). Anyone know if its possible to get back that really dark blue color thats originally on that robe (think the cailiondar robe has the same color). I dont recall any of the blue merchant-dyes looking like that.

I understand this may sound a bit silly but I really liked that color.

I am also pretty sure that using a bleach would restore the original 'skin' of the item in question, but again, don't keel me if I'm wrong :) I seem to remember that being the answer I got once when enquiring about dying epic armour....

Good luck,

Jup.

yes if you Dye Epic Armour and then use Dye remover on it, it will restore to its original scheme..(i tested on my paladins) How ever i think it will work the same on the Robes.. removing all Dye effects when Bleached.. so you will end up with the same color Robes as if you bought the from a merchant

Thanks guys. Ill try that when I get home. Might work since its _almost_ a special skin.

If that doesn't work, buy dark blue cloth dye, that should do the trick.

Used that one alot some time ago and its nowhere near as dark, strangely enough.

I've bleached a drop before and it turned a nasty grey colour. I think coloured drops have been dyed, but I can't say for sure.

One of my casters had a really nice shade of blue on his dropped robe. I must've bought every dye in the store trying to find it, but no luck :(

Bizarrely that might be the result of the colour of other things you are wearing though - there's an awful lot of 'bleed' between colours, I was rather surprised when my highlander dyed his armour medium blue and the kilt went so dark a blue it almost looks black...

Arrgh...tried bleaching but it didnt work. It turned grey. :(

Edit: This is stupid. Whats the point in having a color you cant recreate. Even the epic armors can return to their original state.

Eliz,

Try buy the cheapest cloth armour available, and a few dyes - dye your good cloak the darkest blue you can get, and then try dying the other stuff and see if a combination results in your cloak looking really dark.

Like I said, the colours seem to bleed between items like crazy, and you might find a combination that gets your deep blue cloak back after all.

Tried it already but it doesnt work. Have wasted enough money already so Ill just have to live with it.

Kilts will always change colour to match your dyes, afaik.

There is a rust type of dye for 2s 50c that makes it go back to its original colour even on epic armours.

You sure matt? I used that and it turned my cloak to a crap orange colour (well rusty looking)

as far as i am aware you can't get back the original colour... i'm pretty sure my legion shield has an unique colour so i presume the same is true for the robe... embleming does not wipe the colour fortunately.

Ok now Im really pissed off. Ive e-mailed the GOA customer support about this and they keep telling me that all the colors on objects in DAoC can be recreated using merchant dyes, but after rigorous testing I KNOW that this is wrong in this case. Its no possible way to recreate the original color of the Robes of the Diabolic using the dyes in game. They cant actually be arsed to test this themselves and they dont seem to have any intention to ever do so. Im gonna post about this on the dev board at the VN boards to see if any dev can at least give me an answer.

Wouldnt normally take a thing this unimportant this far but because of GOA customer supports stupid answers Im gonna take this thing to the end and hopefully get an answer.

As i said i think legion drops are the only exception to that rule... look on the brightside anyway Pink > Blue

If the fecking lamers at GOA wont realize that what Im saying is actually correct, Im going full pink for the rest of my time in DAoC. :)

I'm sure I've tried Dark Teal before, and it wasn't very dark at all :)

This game needs more dyes... you know something's wrong when people start using pink! (and not just Hrod)

I think there is a cloak from Keltoi which has a unique dye too.
Something with +stealth.
Looks almost like dark blue/green velvet. :)

Edit: Found it.

Tried this?

Eliz, have you tried to emblem the cloak and handing it to someone not from your guild and having him equip it?

This usually resets the cloak to its original color. Don't know if this will work with legion items. Worked with my black silksteel cloak after i dyed it wrong and didnt want to waste 30g on a new black dye.

Its a robe, not a cloak. Was a smart move though. :)

Edit: For the curious:

Ive had several conversations back and forth with GOA customer support and they keep telling me that its possible to get the original color back by using an in-game dye. The funny thing is that when I ask them they wont tell me wich one of the dyes they are referring to, only that I have to try myself even tho Ive told them over and over again that Ive tried all the dyes (or at least the likely ones...seem a bit of waste to try crimson, green etc) and that noone matches. I will continue my little "crusade" until they at least admit that they were wrong. :)
