CS now thats utter bollox, join a game, get shot in the head through the wall by someone at the other end of the map (who is quite obviously cheating by using wallhacks and aimbots), and if you manage not to get shot in the head through the wall you will live to see a bunch of tards bunny hoping around a map

Its changed a lot, no more bunny-hopping, far less cheating.
Of course, I still gave up playing it, but its a good game, it had me playing for 2 years.

yeah, I used to really enjoy playing the game the first few months were great as no cheats had hit the net (if they had only a small % had them), but as the months went past more and more people ended up cheating. I guess BF1942 will end up on the pile of never to play again games, because im sure it is only a matter of time before some real cheats come out for that.,

Nope. No matter how good you are you are going to end up on a losing side quite often (unless you only play your 5 year old cousins). So much time is spent doing nothing and then getting sniped from miles away. By my definition that is not gameplay. I could do that just as well without looking at my screen. Only a small amount of time is actually spent fighting. Realistic it may be but give me Mr Driller over realism any day.

adams901 : The Halflife engine was very insecure, and had a large number of places where code could be injected into the game. Modern games are written to be a bit more cheat-proof.
Valve have, to some extent, secured the engine now, so its nowhere near as bad as in the bad old days.
Wij : I'm sorry I sniped you, but it doesn't count as a realistic game. I've always seen Battlefield as an arcade-style romp. Then again, I play Operation Flashpoint a lot.

well to be honest I have yet to find a server with the conditions you describe, I have never spent more than 2 minutes doing "nothing", im always shooting at something or running away from something that is shooting me.... I guess you need to find a server with more than 2 people on as the is the only way I can see what you describe happening is if the server only has 2 people

CS has never been as bad as adam describes, thats a massive exageration.
Back to the topic, don't bother cleaning, after a certain amount of dust has settled no more can. I remember reading about a bloke that never cleaned his flat and it got to a point where ti got no dustier.
There is a whole book about dust, if you can be bothered to find it.

Employ a cleaner (and if you get caught cheating at games, you can claim "It was my cleaner!"). As someone else has mentioned, dust is 70% recycled human being...

2 minutes is 2 minutes too long by my standards
Even on a really busy server the actual gameplay is dull. My tank trumps your sniper rifle. Unless you hide behind a building and peg a grenade. That's just not skilful.
The netcode is awful. I've often seemed to empty my machine gun into a target from a few yards away only for him to turn round and kill me as I reload. Wtf ?
I realise the fun is supposed to be in the teamplay and the idea of being able to use vehicles but this in no way should excuse shoddy gameplay.
Imagine if you had a small arena for duelling in. You'd laugh the game out of town because of the awful game mechanics. The fact that you can play in big teams with vehicles shouldn't mean that the basics can be allowed to suck.
I could go on but the game annoys me too much

You wanna try installing the 1.2 patch because the new netcode is great, as for 2 minutes doing nothing that only ever happens on maps where you are on defence if you have orders to hold a choke point/flag or are doing so out of your own initiative. I can't imagine what sort of game you'd be playing to do nothing for 2 minutes on a public unless you're a spack who can't read the map

No its not, although I do like the way the topic seems to of covered a number of different subjects now.
BF1942 takes even more teamplay than CS to be really good, this is kind of lacking on EA servers where every one waits in Terminal 5 for a plane to appear.

Actually, although Im a fan of BF1942 Wij is right in saying that in a small arena 1 on 1 the game would suck. It still lags sometimes up close on isdn ( i dont know if this is true of broadband ?? ) ,and maps like Berlin that are essentially close quarters troop battles can be a pain in the arse for me.
Also sometimes Im really not sure those ping figures are accurate, I rarely get 30 ping on cs with 10 players, let alone 30 ping with 50 players on maps that size !
However imo this can be forgiven for the massive scope of the game, and most importantly for giving me the ability to drive the tanks, something which amuses me no end
