Where do I say i'm immune to accidents?

You keep saying that you can speak on your mobile while driving fine and suggest that the only people that crash are shit drivers so you do not think you can have a accident.

Making a 10 second phone call while stopped in a traffic jam at a red light isn't going to result in me mowing down pedestrians. If it did then it would be because I wasn't paying attention to driving, not simply because I was on the phone. The truth is she hit the people because she didn't view paying attention while driving as important. That's not going to change because you take the phone off her.

Do you honestly believe that if you had a 10 second phone call at traffic lights the police would pull you over and try and get you a prison sentance. This law is for the people who hit people causing serious injury where they could not really chage hem before. So no i dont think a phone call at traffic lights is bad but if you drive off then yes it is. And how do you know that her main defence was that she had never been in an accident before and it was all a tragic accident.

You try hard to blame everything on poor drivers and wil not accept the possibility that driving with a mobile can increase the risks. I do accept that not everyone on the phone will kill some one but i think the risk of it happening warrents this ban.

I think that I can tell when to use a mobile safely when driving. While stopped at lights for example to quickly tell someone i'm going to be 40 mins late then hang up.
I'm very sure that the only people who crash are not shit drivers. Accidents can happen for a large number of reasons and i'm aware everytime I get in a car I could possibly have an accident. I've been in a few of them so please stop telling me I think i'm immune. The whole point is you can't stop accidents that happen when people arn't driving badly. Banning stuff that they were doing at the time of the accident isn't going to stop the accident if it was actually a genuine accident however. If someone is on a phone and paying attention to the road and has an accident it's likely that the accident would of happened even if they wern't on the phone. It's just easy to point at the phone and go, there's your problem.

I'm sure if there was money in it for them they 100% would. I've actually seen someone charged for using their horn when a pedestrian walked out infront of them paying no attention to try and warn him of the car coming in the other direction he was about to walk infront of. A policeman actually walked over and charged him because "using your horn while stationary is illegal". History is littered with people being charged with stupid stuff as it's "the letter of the law".

This law is for the people who hit people causing serious injury where they could not really chage hem before.

Then i'd argue that the law should be changed in a way that allows them to be charged without effecting people that arn't causing a danger. I'm don't always agree with the emphesis on how much "damage" is caused is right either. Personally I feel that someone doing 100 and hitting someone breaking their leg should be given a harsher sentance than someone doing 15 and skidding on some black ice and killing somone. Different discussion tho.

But yet it's now illegal. Anyone thinking that's not a great step is a moron?

And how do you know that her main defence was that she had never been in an accident before and it was all a tragic accident.

I've no idea what her defence was, or any of the circumstances so without knowing that I wouldn't even try and comment.

I'm quite happy to accept that driving with a mobile will increase the risks in many circumstances. I don't view that as a good enough reason to ban all use of them in sensible circumstances as long as the idiots can still be stopped.
You think it warrants the ban, I don't. If we banned everything that caused a risk to someone else, we would never leave our home and so i'd argue that simply raising the risk in some cases isn't enough of a reason to ban something in all cases, as long as we can still punish people taking unneccessarily high risks.

Neither argument is right or wrong, but a difference of opinion, probably based upon different circumstances and experiences. I don't think your an idiot for having your view and I understand why you have it. I still don't have to agree with it tho.
