It's a law that effects me. No it's not a personal attack but it does effect me so I should be allowed an opinion on it......

I agree that you have a right to a opinion on this matter, probably more so then me as i no longer work /live in the UK and i am sorry if i give the impresion that you are not allowed to express this.

........It is the only way forward?
How about using the EXISTING legislation that alowed them to pull these idiots over and give them points/jail sentances then.......

Obviously it was felt that the laws you are speaking of where not having enough of a effect.

........Not 100% sure on the and really can't be arsed to research it, but i'm fairly sure that (yes you guessed it) pulling over onto the hard shoulder if you don't have an actual emergency is against the law. ........

Yes you are right it is illegal to do so.

........And i'm fairly sure that for the 1 phone call I get a month while i'm driving that trying to locate the headset when the phone rings, attach it to my ear, then work out how to get the phone to actually answer using it will again be MUCH more dangerous than just picking up the phone and having the 10 second conversation. ........

lol you make it sound like headsets are only possible to use if you have a degree in rocket engineering from MiT!!! Press one button and its up and running, cant get any easier.

........They had a law for dealing with idiots not paying attention. This makes NO difference to the people your all describing charging round mowing people down with a phone pressed to their ear. None at all. This ONLY effects people who used the phone in a sensible none stupid manner beforehand........

This effects everyone using a mobile phone in a car now.

........still won't be arrested these days since all the policemen got replaced with camera's designed to catch normal drivers, since ofc all the speeders know exactly where they are anyway.

This is another argument all together.

Just enlighten me would you, why do they call an accident a accident? Regardless of how good a driver you are shit happens and if, as the research shows, talking on the phone effects the way you drive, then why on earth is it such a hard thing to buy a device that will reduce the risk of accidents?

Thanks for the resume now tell me suppose you get stopped by a policeman, how is he supposed to know that you are a good driver? What about the next guy who isnt such a good driver, how is he supposed to know? (btw i dont think that your record of driving has any bearing on the matter, still think you should be using a handsfree set in your car regardless).

Whats this have to do with anything? You have issues with me working in the middle east, is it a crime of some sort?

You obviously dont know how to read. Where do i say that in Qatar you get banned for talking on the fone? What i did say was........

Hope that helps clear things up for you a bit.

Do you even know where Qatar is? Have you any idea of what you are talking about? The above is just a great display of your very limited knowledge of the area, its laws and the people. But whatever floats your boat.

Wrong again. Have a lot of family here in Qatar most of whom where born here. My father lived and worked in Qatar for over 60 years. One part you did get right though i get paid a fat load of cash every month and guess what no TAX either. Life out here is faaaar better then anything in the UK. Ask people who have lived and worked out here (hawkwind for example) before posting drivel that only highlights you mindset and your prejudices.

After showing your inability to read a eight line post i made earlier in the thread i find it hard to believe that you read the link i gave you. However, i suggest that you go and do some more reading on the issue of driving while talking on the fone. Some reports show that even people that use bluetooth devices are still distracted while driving, just not as bad as a person using a hand held one.

I am guessing cuz you are such a great driver all this research is naturally all wrong.

1) My dear tierk, your a frightened little bunny arnt you ? obviously you need to go look up what "accident" means, go dictionary.com plze. You may live your life in fear, and feel this strange urge to enlighten us all with. AGAIN.....jeez are you so blinkered ? Yes, yes yes an accident could happen - thank you for that wondeful insight. There are in this modern age an awful lot of things that could go wrong due to an " accident" , The point is, you do not live your life by them, and certainly dont make a law against it - especially when 10,000 people each year end up in hospital due to DIY. You see, i think getting rid of those 10,000 from hospital is more important that making drivers criminals.

2) How is he to know ? By the power of speech i tell the nice policeman. The next guy can send me a text and I send him my no claims bonus if they want it...sorry sacrasm is my only reply here as im not sure what your on about. Driving for 19 years, ( will try and explain again for you) over many different roads, conditions and circumstances...guess what its made me a better driver, erm is called "experience" ( did u ever play DaoC ?) Within reason, the more you do a thing, the better you can get at it.

3) your views are biased

4) oh blow me, you know exactly what i meant. the semantics are the same. the result is the same. Your clutching at thin straws, and to be honest showing how dumb and impressionable you are. Banned/fined, what ever - if this draconian law was introduced in the UK, it would make the poll tax riots look like kindergarten. Dont you see, you like in a country with fucked up laws, and in turn they fuck up/put the fear of god in you - sound familiar ?

5) Being a shipping/logistics for the last 10 years, yes. During the summer i imported a 40ft container of UK foodstuff to Doha. They impounded it for 3 weeks, whilst the fuckwits investigated a box of Jaffa Cakes listed on the bill of lading. Yes, your >genius< customs officials thought they were from Jaffa.....

6) Your talking shite, utter shite. Your life is not better, just different. Life is not perfect anywhere, and hehe.... you have given us ONE example of the super-dupa laws in Qatar.....and im sorry one is enough to show us all how fucked up your little islamic state is. We moan about using a phone whilst driving... lol And i was 100% right, your doing for the money.

7) Oh yer I forgot, everything printed or posted on the internet is 100% truthful, the reasons governments do things is always 100% for the good of the people. You sir, are quite simply put one of the SHEEPLE.

beeehh to you. and i need a new jumper, its cold.

Everyone who thinks answering the phone to find out what pub to go to is worth runing the risk of killing some one then go you it must be hard to be that self centered. Your phone call over the mother of 3 children. Well its outrageous that phone calls are banned i mean all the evidence they take your attentions away from the road what bollocks! TBH the police should pull you over and say "you were on the phone" then you can say "yeah but i rock at driving plus it was only 10 seconds sorting out what pub i drive too!!!!" and then the police can let you go :)

lol you make it sound like headsets are only possible to use if you have a degree in rocket engineering from MiT!!! Press one button and its up and running, cant get any easier.

I could say the same thing about a phone. I only drive with one hand on the wheel normally because I find it more comfortable that way. How is a headset going to improve my safety exactly? It's not just getting it up and running. I probably get a phone call while driving 1 in 100 car trips. I'm not going to remember to put the headset on before I get in the car, so i'll almost certainly have to fish it out of the glove compartment before I can actually use it.

What's needed isn't 100's of laws to throw everyone in jail. It's proper road safety taught before you get a licence. I was in the pub yesterday with someone bragging about how fast he charged round country roads and how many close calls he experienced. You really think taking his mobile away from him is going to change anything?

It's not even the fact that I can't talk on a mobile while driving that makes me actually angry. I can work around it. It's the fact that the governement in this country clearly has no actual idea of how to make roads safer.

Obviously it was felt that the laws you are speaking of where not having enough of a effect.

They wern't having enough of an effect because the police couldn't be arsed to inforce them. What's going to change with the new laws then? All that's going to alter is some people not actually causing a danger to anyone are going to be hit with fines, while small children continue to be mowed down by idiots. Result!

.......I probably get a phone call while driving 1 in 100 car trips.............

Then what are you moaning about? It hardly effects you at all and if you cba for the sake of one call out of 100 to buy a headset then just dont answer the call??

.......What's needed isn't 100's of laws to throw everyone in jail. It's proper road safety taught before you get a licence. .............

Get this into your head, driving and talking on the phone effects the way you drive. Its been researched and proven. Simple. Accidents happen even to the most safe drivers out there, talking on the phone just increases this chance.

Wow brilliant idea look at the shit they are getting for banning phones. Now imagine they said everyone with a licence needs to come in for a new advanced safety driving licence so we can get rid of the twats.

Ohh no wait people will just drive properly for the course of the test before going back to driving like a twat. Maybe a question on the test "Will you turn into a shit and unsafe driver when you pass, please be honest we need bad drivers off he roads so the good guys can have the phones back!"

... especially when 10,000 people each year end up in hospital due to DIY. You see, i think getting rid of those 10,000 from hospital is more important that making drivers criminals......

Its funny how you cant seem to see the difference between 10,000 people that kill themselves doing diy and people that run other people over in a car or crash into other cars.

I would have thought it was pretty clear when a person falls off a ladder or electrocutes themselves while drilling holes in the wall of his house is different to someone getting run over in a car. Can you se a difference or would you like me to draw you a picture?

..... Driving for 19 years, ( will try and explain again for you) over many different roads, conditions and circumstances...guess what its made me a better driver............

Here you go again with your great driving xp. I am happy for you really i am but what you seem to fail to understand is that driving and talking on a mobile phone is, as the reasearch clearly shows, worse then drinking driving in relation to reactions and attention.

..... your views are biased............

I dont see how i am biased when all i am saying is get a headset and tbh someone making comments like this........

ps your living in a muslim country, no wonder your fucking scared.

talking about bias?!! Ok bud yes you really got me there didnt you.

..... Your clutching at thin straws, and to be honest showing how dumb and impressionable you are. ............

lol ok.

.....Dont you see, you like in a country with fucked up laws, and in turn they fuck up/put the fear of god in you - sound familiar ?............

Err no it doesnt sound familiar, the only thing thats familiar here is the smell everytime i read another post from you on this subject.

In Qatar until October this year if you busted a red light it was a five hundred pound fine (QR3,500). The number of deaths from people breaking red lights was very high.

In October a new law came into effect that increased the fine to almost ten thousand pounds (QR60,000) and the likelihood of prison as well for repeat offenders and guess what?? The number of deaths caused by breaking red lights has been reduced greatly and in just two months.

Can you see a co-relationship between the two?

.... Being a shipping/logistics for the last 10 years, yes. During the summer i imported a 40ft container of UK foodstuff to Doha. They impounded it for 3 weeks, whilst the fuckwits investigated a box of Jaffa Cakes listed on the bill of lading. Yes, your >genius< customs officials thought they were from Jaffa....

That is your total knowldge about Qatar and you have made all these assumptions from sending one forty foot container to Qatar?!??

LOL guess what i send a Xmas cards every year to the London and they tend to arrive at the addresses house in February. Must mean that all English people are fuckwits /retards or some other random insult as they must think that they are full of bombs??

You do sound stupid the more you go on.

...Life is not perfect anywhere, and hehe.... you have given us ONE example of the super-dupa laws in Qatar.....and im sorry one is enough to show us all how fucked up your little islamic state is.......

Which law is that? The one where you get fined for talking on mobiles? LOL you are a moron of the highest order if this is how you make judgments about how other countries are. Hell using that as a yard stick then you must even hate the UK.

... We moan about using a phone whilst driving... lol And i was 100% right, your doing for the money......

I left London after 32 years for more then one reason. just to give you a idea.

1. Getting stopped by the police randomly even though i havent done anything wrong (racial profiling).

2. Chavs and Chavlike behaviour everywhere now.

3. Taxes.

4. Death of father who asked on death bed that we all move back to Qatar.

5. Good Job offer in Qatar.

6. Quality of life far better then anything you could possibly imagine in the UK.

7. Familly here in large numbers, Aunts, Uncles, Brothers and Cousins (though i am sure that this would probably be a big negative for you).

8. Great weather (when was the last time you had a beach party?).

9. Healthy enviroment for me and my fiance to have children in.

10. The fact that i can leave my car windows open and keys in it while i pop into a office building for a meeting and come back and find my car and all my posessions still there.

The list is endless but i am hoping that you getting the picture.

... Oh yer I forgot, everything printed or posted on the internet is 100% truthful, the reasons governments do things is always 100% for the good of the people.......

You are right not everything on the net is true and not everything a government does is good for the people. However, I would just like you to show me one bit of research that shows that you are right and its ok to talk (on your fone)and drive, apart from your resume please.

In conclusion, your an idiot.

I do not think people understand that no one cares if they crash into a bridge and kill themselves thats thier problem. But this rule is proteting inocent people.

My dear bigoted Tierk. Your like a racehorse with blinkers permanetly attached, living in your little oil rich coccoon. Thank you for taking the time to post in our little forum here, between the endless beach parties and picking dollars off money trees, must be tough to come here and mingle with the normal folk.

Must be strange living in your Utopia that people like me and Golena actually object to this new law. WTF ARE WE DOING ? How can we object when the government says its true ? The government are ALWAYS right arnt they ? Some people like you tow the line, agree with whats said, quoting arbitrary figures taken from random tests done in hicksville USA.

Unlike your Truman Show existance - a country like the UK only has finite resources to pay for everything. So much to do, but not enough money to go round. The sooner you actually come to realise that this law is just a "quick fix" to appease a few demographics of people. I GUARANTEE if you did a survey of women who drive with babies/toddlers in the car - I will say it again I GUARANTEE the survey would find that driving with said baby/toddler makes driving more dangerous. Driving with a baby( or just children tbh) makes driving with a mobile, aheh, look like "childs play"

Using your fucked up logic we would make criminals out ofl women with children in cars - EXACTLY the same criteria exists as the mobile phones law. Not concentrating on the road, one hand on wheel, distracted etc... Smoking cigarettes & changing a cd/tape/dvd is also exactly the same.

I hope you understand - with regard to whats " dangeorus" you could go on forever and ever, removing from our lives all the things that might cause us harm - but we dont and thats why the mobile phone law is, in my opinion wrong. If your going to apply the phone law logic to general life, nothing would ever get done, and most of the population would be classed as a criminal.

10 Resons to stay in the UK as opposed to Qatar :

1) You dont get stopped and fined by the police for talking in a car.

2) Diverse society with many different socio/economic groups.

3) A democratic election system

4) Women are not treated like 2nd class citizens

5) We are not indoctrinated/brainwashed in to religion.

6) We do not have laws that send you to JAIL if you are "gay"

7) A diverse weather pattern to suit everyone. Desert 24/7 ftw ? no ty.

8) Great parties in varied locations such as : fields/woodland/moors/dales/hills/lakes/diverse coastline. You live in a fuckin desert.

9) Single women under the age of 35 are not allowed in Quatar - dont see any ulta-conservative patriarchal laws like this in the uk do you ? u gotta lol

10) Ok the important one " Quality of life far better then anything you could possibly imagine in the UK."

That wonderfully bigoted response from you shows your true credentials. If you dont mind living under Sharia Law, where for example The Crown Prince of Qatar was found to be Gay and top Qatar clerics called for his EXECUTION. id love to live under laws unchanged from the middle ages, i really would. i can speak my mind on any political issue without fear of receimination. The UK has lots to offer compared to Qatar.

The list is endless but i am hoping that you getting the picture.

You are a right wing conservative thats obvious, i am a left wing liberal. Darn it I bet your religious too ! Nothings gonna' change, though one can only hope Qatar loses all its oil reserves - and are forced to live like the rest of us plebs - in the real world

I am with Golena on that one.

My female driving instructor told me at my 12th driving lesson that I should maybe play some Tetris to higher my reflexes when driving. At the point of time I was playing daily anyway, for an odd hour when taking a dump.

I stopped to take courses then am 31 now and enjoy blow jobs while being in a train.

Imagine you lose your cock because you are jerking off in a moving car, can't happen in a train and you still enjoy travel and sex (while shaking a stopped car can be funny too).

So I don't own a driving licence and make funny jokes about the people buying Daimlers, BMWs and Audis instead of a Toyota all the time.

What are all the people in America doing complaining about the Iraq war? How many of them does it effect on a personal level I wonder.
Don't pick up a gun and shoot someone in Iraq, problem solved!

I dislike the principle of the law, regardless of how much it actually effects me!

Get this into your head, driving and talking on the phone effects the way you drive. Its been researched and proven. Simple. Accidents happen even to the most safe drivers out there, talking on the phone just increases this chance.

Would you like me to list every thing that increases the chances of an accident happening in life? Could you even begin to comprehend if they made these illegal?
I imagine if you did a test on it having a bunch of cute women walking down the road in provocative clothes would also effect the way people drove. Would you accept the government banning all attractive women from wearing certain types of clothes in public, in the same way your accepting this law?
I guess you would since your completely unable to see the actual issue here.

Yes and i suppose trying to stop people from talking while driving is a step in the wrong direction.

They could of arrested all the people driving without due care and attention on their mobiles previously. They chose not to do so.

Couple of people locked up for this and pretty soon people wil get the message.

They could of locked a couple of people up already. Make a press announcement that they were going to cut down on people using mobiles in a silly manner while driving. Arrest a couple of idiots and hope the message got through.
Instead what they will do is arrest a few people using them in a responsible manner and not causing a danger. Everyone who did use them sensibly before will stop out of fear, and the idiots will continue doing what they did before, because the fear of getting pulled isn't something that they worry about. If it was they wouldn't of been driving in an illegal life threatning way before.. I really can't see anyone hitting a pedestrian and suddenly thinking, oh crap I was talking on the phone. Now i'm hosed!

What will it take for you to see any driving with a mobile is dangerous you seem to think you are imune to accidents.

What if you as a non idiot driver and going down the road your phone rings and the person says "Sorry one of your friends / family has just died" No way can you say your mind stays on the road in a situation like that. It is all situational and you can't ban people from talking on the phone if its bad / good news so you ban all phones. I think handfree should go to but that would be hard to police.

My dear bigoted Tierk........

I think if you carefully read everything you have posted on this thread you might see the irony in that statement, though i seriously doubt that you will.

....Thank you for taking the time to post in our little forum here, between the endless beach parties and picking dollars off money trees, must be tough to come here and mingle with the normal folk.........

Always a pleasure to post on FH as you get such a wide range of views on here. Even if i dont agree with half of the people on here half the time.

I dont live in utopia and you have every right to object to anything you like. Just think that your reasoning is not very sound on this subject.

As a general rule i tend to agree that a lot of things the government does is not for the good of the nation. On this matter with phones i think on the one hand that it seems a bit harsh to jail people for talking on phones in cars, it does seem a bit extreme, however, i dont see what yours or Golena's issue is with using a headset. Buy one of the headsets and you dont have to worry would seem to be logical no?

....Some people like you tow the line, agree with whats said, quoting arbitrary figures taken from random tests done in hicksville USA..........

If you cba to actually do some looking for yourself on the web you would notice that the research is not just restricted to the USA but rather.......

Seems you dont understand the meaning of the word bigoted. Please show me where i was saying anything that remotely fits the description you are applying, or have just learnt a new word?? Better still throw in your favourite "sheeple" in for good measure.

As to the rest of your post i just dont understand what you are trying to prove here on a thread about talking on mobiles that you feel that you have to bring religion into this discussion or nationailty. It is irelevant just like your whole argument.

....You are a right wing conservative thats obvious....

lol and just where to do get this from is it because i say that i like living in Qatar or because i think that you should be using a headest while driving?

.... i am a left wing liberal.....

No allow me to correct you. Your an idiot

.... Darn it I bet your religious too.....

Wrong again, i just dont feel the need to bash anyone elses way of living the way you do.

....Nothings gonna' change, though one can only hope Qatar loses all its oil reserves - and are forced to live like the rest of us plebs - in the real world

This just reinforces everything i said before about you being an idiot.

lol and just where to do get this from is it because i say that i like living in Qatar or because i think that you should be using a headest while driving?

No allow me to correct you. Your an idiot

Wrong again, i just dont feel the need to bash anyone elses way of living the way you do.

This just reinforces everything i said before about you being an idiot.

Ok, I will broach one subject of your enlightening last post. Now, either you did not look at your hyperlinks or you have just proven how stupid you are.

In your own words regarding the information provided in your links " Lets just ignore the weight of scientific evidence " orly ?

Out of all the links provided the following information was gleamed :

One test done with 454 Australians & Americans who had already been on a car crash in the last 2 years related to mobile phone use genius !

One test done with 20 ( huge amount i know) people in a Simulator

AND THATS IT.

"scientific evidence" you say ?

For smug conservative ex pats maybe.....

oh go on, quote me some more "scientific" evidence, the spade is waiting the ground is soft.

You sure are one argumentative so and so, the BMJ isnt a good enough source for you?

Ok keep driving with a phone in your hand and when you get knicked for it and fined or jailed (whichever law applies) come on here and whine like a biatch about how its so unfair and how much of a great driver you are.

Based on this utterly flawed, totally biased information :

Setting Perth, Western Australia.

Participants 456 drivers aged ≥17 years who owned or used mobile phones and had been involved in road crashes necessitating hospital attendance between April 2002 and July 2004.

Main outcome measure Driver's use of mobile phone at estimated time of crash and on trips at the same time of day in the week before the crash. Interviews with drivers in hospital and phone company's records of phone use.

Results Driver's use of a mobile phone up to 10 minutes before a crash was associated with a fourfold increased likelihood of crashing (odds ratio 4.1, 95% confidence interval 2.2 to 7.7, P<0.001). Risk was raised irrespective of whether or not a hands-free device was used (hands-free: 3.8, 1.8 to 8.0, P<0.001; hand held: 4.9, 1.6 to 15.5, P=0.003). Increased risk was similar in men and women and in drivers aged ≥30 and <30 years. A third (n=21) of calls before crashes and on trips during the previous week were reportedly on hand held phones.

As i said keeping driving and when you get pulled you can explain to the policeman your views. See how far it will get you.

What will it take for you to see any driving with a mobile is dangerous you seem to think you are imune to accidents.

What will it take for you to actually get the point!

Any driving with a mobile is dangerous. Your 100% correct. Want to know why? Because ANY DRIVING is dangerous!
I assume you'd also support the government if they decided to ban cars, since they are clearly dangerous and do nothing except provide a bit of convenience when trying to get from A to B.

Fuck it while we are at it remove seatbelts air bags and the need for a good NCAP ratings lets not try to make driving any safer ever incase its a bit of an arse ache. People hated seat belts and still do not wear them because they are a pain but they save lifes just like the ban on phones will.

Fact driving on the phone makes it more dangerous why not remove that danger.

I get your point driving is dangerous so why make it safer. Lets remove all speed limits because if i run some one over at 20 they could die so why dont i just do 70 and deffo kill them. And going the right way round a round about what the fuck for ill go the shortest way other drivers should move! I get your point i just think you are a moron.

Some people say why ban mobiles driving is dangerous so what difference dose making a phone call make.
Some people say they are dangerous so they have be banned live with it.

According to new laws today you can now face up to 2 years in prison if you are caught on your phone whilst driving, the same sentance is carried for "fiddling" with your sat nav whilst driving.

Also new "research" claims that being on your handsfree is as dangerous as drink driving!

Is it me or is this nanny state bullshit going too far. Whats next? No changing radio station driving? No eating? Fuck that, i think we should all pull over to wind down the window, it does take 1 hand off the wheel!

The UK is losing it, time to become le french? :m00:

There is a cctv watching u take a piss down the alley, and it's on utube within seconds....

UK sucks, and I am glad I want to get the hell out of here even though I am born and bred English...

I get your point i just think you are a moron.

So you think i'm a moron because I have a differing view point to you?

That's rather a narrow minded and frankly pathetic view on life. Do I agree with your views, no. Yet you seem (some of the time when your not just randomly insulting people for no reason) to actually be able to argue them in a sensible manner, so i'm not going to class you as a moron just because I don't agree with you.

Your still missing the point however. I don't agree that just because something can be dangerous if used improperly that it should be banned for everyone because some people are abusing it. It's the same as saying.. Some people are unable to drive safely, so we will make driving illegal. Hand in your car keys at the local office please. Would you leap up and say this was a great idea? (and i'd actually like a proper response to this one, since it appears from your arguments so far you'd support them in this if they tried it).

This new law is no different to that. People can and have used mobiles safely while operating a vehicle. Some random statistics they made up that don't represent many ways phones were used do not prove otherwise, and as such banned all phone use. Yes it may save lives, but at a loss to our freedom and there were plenty of other ways they could of attempted to solve the problem of idiots on phones not paying attention without just banning them wholesale. They chose not to do this because people like you seem intent on supporting them based purely on the principle that some idiot who was breaking the law and could of been pulled over before this law came into effect almost ran them over yesterday.

It's got nothing to do with making phone calls makes no difference as you seem so intent on thinking i'm saying. It's the fact that not ALL phone use is dangerous, and banning the none harmful phone use to make it "easier" to arrest the harmful phone use is not the way forward. The same as removing cars is not the way to cut down on traffic accidents.

I have very strong views on this because a friend of mine is crippled and his sister dead because some lady was booking a hair appointment while driving. They crossed at a crossing and she did not see them or stop.

So you tell me how it is you are immune to accidents? And why it is so important to be able to make phone calls while driving why you can't pull over or call back when you get where you are going?

And yes if they provide public transport that can get me too and from work i will give up my car.

Where do I say i'm immune to accidents?

You've had personal experiences of an accident involving someone being an idiot, and I guess that therefore have probably lost the ability to argue objectively about it. I imagine that in similar circumstances i would probably be much the same. But it doesn't change the fact that your opinion probably given your circumstances isn't completely unbiased right?

Making a 10 second phone call while stopped in a traffic jam at a red light isn't going to result in me mowing down pedestrians. If it did then it would be because I wasn't paying attention to driving, not simply because I was on the phone. The truth is she hit the people because she didn't view paying attention while driving as important. That's not going to change because you take the phone off her.

They are accidents for a reason. No-one is immune to them and once again i've never claimed that I or any other people are immune to them. I could pull over and park to use the phone, but i'm already stationary (or doing 5mph and capable of both handling that and not hitting someone since i'm putting not hitting someone above what the other person is saying in my list of brain priorities) when I use it so where exactly is the unacceptable danger?

You still haven't answered my question tho.. Would removing all cars be sensible to reduce traffic accidents? I'm not asking if you would give up your car. Public transport would surely involve someone driving a bus.. That sounds very much like a vehicle capable of hurting someone. Why would that be allowed? Lorry's stocking your local shops would also not be allowed ofc.
Where should the line be drawn? And why is everyone who doesn't draw it in exactly the same place as you somehow a moron?

I do realise that diven your circumstances i'll probably never be able to have an unbiased conversation with you in the same way that having a conversation with someone who lost a loved one in 9/11 about airport security is probably not going to happen either so I guess there's very little point in trying further..
