go slow..it WILL get you a minor point or 2..but it's better than going too fast and getting a major point and failing.

when you check mirrors..move your HEAD not your eyes..they wont be able to catch your eyes moving all the time..but they will see your head moving.

check your mirrors ALOT!

bottom line is though....as long as your instructor has done his job, and you have had 20+ hours of lessons, drive carefully and keep your cool...you will pass no probs...good luck!

indicating left when you weren't supposed to be going left?

No i was taking the exit on the left 3rd of 3 exits indicated left the right after the second exit perfect i though. But then he said fail, you Mislead other drivers you do not indicate left only Right when you want to turn off.

My Instructer said he wanted to faile me for hitting the curb but as i did not mount the curb it he could not instant fail me so he picked that too.

that's bollocks!

if you hit a round-about with four exits (including the one you are coming from) and you want the third (i.e. turn right) you indicate right as you go round the round-about (to say you are going round not coming off), then after the LAST exit you DONT want (i.e. 2nd) you indicate left to say you are coming off here...else if you just indicate right, it implies you are going all the way around (and that WILL mis-lead other drivers!).

Got my driving test tomorrow. I'm not confident i'll pass as I always tend to make a major mistake every lesson. But i'll try my best

Any last minute tips people? :)

Its already been mentioned but its about SAFE driving not GOOD driving. For example if you stall the car, Dont think OH FUCK i failed, Make sure you do everything the way it should be to secure the car, All around checks again when setting off, checking its not in gear when you start and so on etc.

Out of interest is this your first test? It's more common for people to pass on there second attempt etc as they are at alot more ease knowing whats coming in front of them etc.

Just keep your nerve and enjoy the test, take it as a learning experience and imagine you only have one go at it, However DO NOT try to hard, Just be relaxed like you are on lessons and if it helps you can even have your instructor sit in with you, For example: If you get a glimse of him/her your gonna think "Right check mirrows etc hes watching"..

Do not check your mirrors less than every 7 seconds just keep looking about (EVEN IF YOUR NOT) :)

Best of luck mate!

Thats what i said i asked the Test guy to explain to me why i failed because all he said was "you indicated right so mislead other drivers" but he said not your Instructor will explain. My Instructor went to find him and was told that he did not need to tell him why i failed speak to me. My Instuctor said he basically wanted to fail you.

My instructor told me that there was a bit of a conspiracy that examiners have to fail a certain amount of people to keep up the stats. I think Joor had something to do with it though..

I think they should make it 70% more difficult to pass. Or maybe raise the driving age to 25. The amount of fucking idiot young chav drivers around in cars too fast for their zero experience is alarming. White van drivers and builders are the most aggressive drivers I've experienced. I won't go into ethnicity, but certain sectors of London's driving society are FAR worse than everyone else.

I don't think raising the age of driving would be a very good idea at all, people leaving education to start their career at 17 are able to get employment a lot easier due to having ease of transport with a valid driving liscence being a must in todays society if you don't live in a city. You see it all the time in job advertisements, must have full driving liscence.

I'm 22, if I didn't have a driving liscence I wouldn't have a job..public transport in my area is terrible.

I do agree that they should make the driving test more difficult though, a psych test would be a good idea to see if the driver is likely to drive in excessive speeds.

You see, I agree with transport, its crap where I am too and without my motobike its just not possible to get a decent job.

No psych tests though, but agree another test or possible re-test maybe 3-5 years after you pass and possibly every 5-10 years thereafter.

I also think there should be a restriction like with bikes, whereby if your under 21 you cannot have more than a 1.1 or something similar.

Anyway, did you pass your test Dud's?

Not meaning to sound sexist but here is essex Women are far worse than men. I had a woman in her Range Rover 2 ft behind me doing 60 and then when i slowed to 30 (because the signs said so) she is actually swearing at me i can see her in the rear view.

And some of the young girls think thats the way to drive 2ft from the car infront. Another time i had a girl right up my arse doing 70 on a dual carriage way with nothing in the outside lane. She did not overtake she just followed my speed for about 30 miles till i turned off.

I hate van drivers cabs and women with shiney range rovers my favorite game is go slow enough past the juction / roundabout / turning so the car behind is to close to let them out. Im a laid back driver and let a lot of cars go but Cehlsea Tractors Cabs and Vans stay put.

I think the one thing that infuriates me more than anything else is someone driving up your arse. And people who lane change 15 times to get 25 feet ahead of you. Moments like those I wish I had rear mounted machine guns.

Best of luck with your driving test - just relax and it will all be fine :)

If you don't get it this time (and for me it was complete luck when I failed first and passed second) you will get it the next time.

I failed,

had 18 faults total.
3 major faults
I done two different minors three times each which is a fail and equals to 2 majors.

I thought I had done about 10 major fails so I don't really know what it was for and the tester was in a rush so couldn't explain.

Oh also he told me to stop in a convinient place on the left. There was a slight bend to the road so I didn't think it was safe to stop. Then I realised it was safe but I was too far up the road by then so he said just carry on now. Would that have been a fail aswell?

Sorry to hear you failed - you should have the test sheet and your driving instructor should go through it with you so you know what to work on for next time.

All the best people fail first time ;)

Bad luck mate. Put in for a re-test straight away.

Remember, if you knock down and kill a chav, its an automatic pass !

he did go through the faults on the sheet but he wasn't sitting in the car so cant tell exactly what they were. And I don't know the faults because I thought I had about 10 majors.

Don't worry about it. Make sure you go through it with your instructor.

All the best drivers pass 2nd, 3rd, or 4th time round.

However, all the best sexual athletes pass first time ;p :) *cough*

This isn't really relevant but last night at 4am my Dad had a pain in his arm, a really high heart beat and was finding it hard to breathe. Mum called an Amubulance and I managed to sleep through it all. Only just found out.

yeah, he went to work today, wtf? I phoned him and asked why he went to work, he said "I feel better now"

Unlucky on both mate :(

Going through my lessons now, although the only thing i'm worried about is the theory. I'm thick as two short planks. I've got high hopes for the practical though ;)

The theory is easy. Just make sure you learn all the stuff and you will be fine. Its much easier than you think. I had a book and a CD to learn from and generally the questions were harder in them than the real exam. Its good to get a CD to practice on with the hazard perception part on it too.
