yeah i accept differences and tastes but saying the game is boring is laughable to be honest

do you find opera boring (or something else that other people dont?). People dont have the same taste and while you like the atmosphere alot. Other people will just find it either irritating or dont care about it and just see the 1 million monsters(amount is probably exaggerated (dont have the game)) they have to kill.

I just finished this game, had to change my underwear a few times when playing, but it has to be one of the best games I have played so far. Shame the multiplayer side of Doom 3 is very poor.

One thing I was amazed with was I could play Doom 3 in high quality on my Geforce 4 Ti 4200 x8 AGP 128Mb and have no graphic lag. Well there was just a few times when I had to reboot after a few large fights, but other then that it ran very nicely.

Bought it when it came out, thoroughly enjoyed it for the first few times I started it up (I'm in the middle of resits and working on my Masters thesis, so I don't have hours upon hours to play); I agree with those who say that the game gets somewhat samey after a while.
I'm still playing it, but that's mostly because I want to know what happens next, much of the gameplay reminds me of Doom I and II; things that appeared to be walls turn out to be doors that open as soon as you step on something (always behind you), which I find hard to believe, why would you build impossible-to-detect doors in a martian colony? Possessed Marines and other mobs coming from behind you even though you checked there before and there wasn't any way for them to get there, after games like Far Cry, I'm used to all mobs spawning at the beginning of the level, not after some trigger has been activated.
Now I'm not disappointed, really, it's just that I find the game a bit too predictable (hey, there's a gizmo I can pick up in the middle of the room with a spotlight on it...), I really like the PDA (really reminds of System Shock 2, which I think is a great game) and the way you get all kinds of unessential information from PDA's you find scattered around. The game looks great, weapons feel and sound good, etc. it's just not a groundbreaking game, like the first two were.

Doom 3 was good.. Just how I remmber it.. but this type of game is old.. now which is why you proberly feel let down by the game.. when Doom 1 and 2 where a round it was like OMG wow.. it was new.. all the Doom 3 are brought to the game is new Graphices the game has stayed the same.. there have been to many FPS over recent years like doom. ID are just behind the times now imho but I cannot wait for HL2

More Doom (III) mongering ?

Doom III - it's like going to the pics to see the latest Horror flick.
There's nothing new to make you think but you can't help being sucked
into it anyway. Makes you jump even though you know what's about to happen.
Use of sound is excellent. The first time the evil laugh rang out I was
spinning round like a loon looking for the next 'nasty' about to leap out on
me....and...nothing happened apart from I nearly wet myself.

Anyway aren't we all missing the point. What Id do best is push the envelope
when it comes to graphics engines.

Quake III was for a long time the definitive multiplayer engine. I never enjoyed
the original Q3 for very long but I'm still playing it's offspring (Call of Duty
multiplayer has me hooked).

Won't Doom III be the definitive single-player game engine ?
