It's definitely kicked up a gear now.
Now we know the things we know, the question remains... why is FBI guy SO important to them? They could just put a bullet in his head but they don't.

Because killing an FBI agent = major law enforcement problem? and also confirms they exist.

(where as now he's discredited crazy man ).

There's more to it than just that though. It's pretty much confirmed that other parties have a specific interest in HIM.
Not sure if it's a spoiler so tagged anyway...
He's important enough to have 24/7 surveillance, and a doll assigned to watch (protect?) him.
And I guessed she was a doll 3 episodes back. :)

Imho so's the agent. Presently I would guess that he's potentially alpha. Fighting skills that match echo when she was programmed to be "lovely but lethal" or words to that effect. Constant surveillance, etc, etc.

Very impressive.

More interesting plot developments in that one episode than in the previous 5 put together. Hopefully they'll build on it :)

Just a bump to say it's confirmed that Alpha is Wash from firefly ^^

Deebs: ECA you naughty boy!! SPOILERS PLEASE!

Thats ruined it for me now as well...I know it was a spoiler but I thought it would refer to episodes up to that date not future events.

:(
:(

Please can the spoilers give us a clue as to an Episode or future event or something. That way I can choose not to open it...

Have to agree, EP7 was superb. Just hope it doesn't get canned.

I've finally got around to watching up to ep 9. 6-9 are consistently excellent and it just keeps getting murkier and murkier.

News I've just picked up:

Joss Whedon's ambitious show will be cut short by one; 12th episode reportedly original vision for season finale.

Uh-oh… more bad news for fans of Dollhouse. Fox e-mailed out the highlights from its upcoming May schedule, and one thing appears to be missing: the final episode of Joss Whedon's new action show.

On May 8, Fox will air the episode titled "Omega," which the network describes as a season finale. But there's just one problem: "Omega" is only the show's 12th episode and the crew shot 13. The episode that won't air is titled "Epitaph One."

The news appears to have been confirmed with Felicia Day, who starred in Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog and had a role in "Epitaph One." According to The Hollywood Reporter, Day used her Twitter account to say, "Man, day getting worse and worse. Found out my Dollhouse ep, #13 isn't gonna air. Only on DVD. Such a great part too. Thx Fox. :( ..."

However, according to some from Whedon's camp, "Omega" is actually Whedon's original idea of a season finale, so season one won't feel cut short. But the obvious question is "if that was the season finale, why did they shoot an extra episode?"

It looks as though Fox cut Dollhouse's run short in order to make room for the two-hour Prison Break series finale.

This should in no way be interpreted as the show being cancelled, but it isn't a good sign either.

UPDATE: According to television critic Alan Sepinwall, Fox apparently considers the original pilot (Joss Whedon re-shot the first episode) as part of the 13-episode order, and "Epitaph One" was produced independently by the studio. Therefore, Fox doesn't feel as though they need to air the extra episode (and if that's the case, it's a legitimate decision). It is believed the unaired episode will be part of the season one DVD box set.

I loved the premise for ep 11, not convinced about some of the stuff that followed but it was good fun.

Alan Tudyk (Wash from Firefly) totally steals ep 12 as the environmental designer fruitcake. Its great to see him again.

It doesn't quite feel like an end of series episode though.

i have watched up to episode 5, dont know what i think of it so far, i havent had that feeling of "i must see the next episode" that i had with prison break / heroes / battlestar.

the only things keeping me going is eliza's fineness (gawd damn!) and the promise from you folk that it gets better. if not, I KEEL YOU!

Between episodes 1 to 5 only the even numbered episodes are good. From episode 6 it kicks in properly and gets much better. As someone said earlier in this thread, they should have just started the series at episode 6.

episode 11

The Alpha twist was good, if slightly predictable. Want to know what the link with Echo is, I am assuming they were on a assignment together as lovers, and he remembers it.

I connected the tale she was telling the little girl to alpha, ie it was Echo who sabotaged alpha so he would rescue her.

interesting ECA, I could see that storyline working -but in my mind that would lead to, why would Ehco want to kill/hurt people just so she could escape. This leads me to thinking that she was planted in the dollhouse and has another personality imprint that keeps popping up to undermine and sabotage the dollhouse?

episode 12

Surprised no one has commented on this yet. Alpha turned out to be too much of a pussy for my liking. Echo should not have kicked his arse so easily, even with all her imprints active. Thought the Whiskey story line was really good, and Ballard saying goodbye to Mellie was nicely done as well.

Anyone know if there are any more plans on episode 13 being aired yet?

Ep 13 is going to be on the DVD set but from what I read its more like the original replaced pilot or something rather than an ep after the end?

Might be wrong.

Either way blaaaaaah of a last episode ( alpha being so fractured given his obvious personality defects vs his acting when with Ballard it seems dumb ).

I really hope not. Episode 12 didn't feel like an end-of-series ep. There was too much setup for Alpha. It felt more like the first part of a 2-parter than an end-of-series cliff-hanger.

Bit awkward though if the un-aired episode is the last one, because continuinity for a second series if it comes is going to be a real bugger if many people haven't seen the very last episode of series 1 should it be DVD-only.

Anyway. I liked the Alpha setup. It does feels a little rushed, as if there was some shoe-horning going on against what the writers may have wished as they crammed stuff in to get it in before the studio closed the door on the series.

Overall, a decent series. Marred by some very lackluster early episodes but enough spark and flair showing promise should it make it to a second series and should the writers settle into a decent stride.
