Its getting a lot better, if it continues to grow we could have something special. Liked the character of the FBI agents neighbour -pure quirky Whedon there.

Definitely a "poor mans" La Femme Nikita. Even the layout of the house draws parallels, wide open centre, operations upstairs, etc, etc. All we're missing is a guy handing out guns & breaking the rules called Walter (I'd would have remarked that was Echo's handler but he's allowed to go outside!), but hey, it's only episode 2.

Despite all that, it's quite watchable, though it gives me the impression that Echo's condition is progressing very quickly, perhaps nobody is banking on this getting past the first season?

Nothing progressed quickly. The visions she had were caused by whatever drug was in the water, and someone had intentionally set her up in that situation (alpha?). The entire episode was then wiped from her.

I think the ending when she did the wheel comment/arm bump restored her memory at the end of the episode.

I agree I think this is LFN Vjosswhedon, and he's trying to get to the internal conflict section ( FBI is red guard ) and skip the fluff of the early LFN ( which unfortunately is going to get this show cancelled because that's what built the characters up and locked in the tension when they changed direction ).

I think the comments about Eliza Dushku's acting ability aren't fair. She must have some faith (ha!) in her own abilities... she's putting her own money into the show as a producer.

And as has already been mentioned, she's already holding onto memories (from her drugged state and at the end of the episode). Notice how she takes on ANYTHING as personal experience and learns from it? I reckon the same process that imprints the memories also makes it easier for the mind to soak up memories and experiences. In effect, the Dollhouse are making problems for themselves in the future BECAUSE they're imprinting people.

I was quite impressed with episode 2. The dialog was sharper, the hints of nastiness a bit darker. As mentioned above some of the Joss quirkiness is coming through.

On asking (imprinted) Echo if she can handle a gun, she cocks it smoothly and says "4 brothers, none of them Democrats" ...awesome :D

I'm still withholding judgement on this one. If episode 2 is setting the standard it should turn out to be good. If the pilot / episode 1 is the standard then it will be mediocre please-the-TV-studio fare.

IIRC episode 2 was supposed to be the first episode, just fox didn't get it so they made a new one.

This latest episode was so very strange, I'm going to agree that its getting canned, even with a super cliffhanger unless they build up the characters and improve the action some more, its all going to fall apart before the end.

What do you think Eca, perhaps 4th episode will be good?

I don't think it really matters, there is no way it recovers from the first three eps + it's friday doomslot of doom.

I quite enjoyed this ep, a few more Jossy moments - "People are mostly crap". Still, I find it hard not to agree with you, time will tell. Doesn't strike me as the most expensive show to film though - all things considered. It's gotta be cheaper than Firefly anyway.

I think it will depend on what other shows are going to be running, this series has just started where as the others are half way through/coming to a series end. If the series is to work, they should hope nothing amazing comes out.

Shit episode, only thing of any interest was laying out future potential with the bit:
"Hello Victor, how are you feeling?"

That at last gives the show some potential because now the possibility that anybody/anyone can be other than what they seem. For example it could turn out that everyone running the dollhouse is a doll themselves... ya know, a "who's the real puppet master" kinda gig... oh wait, sorry, bit Nikita there... doh!

It seemed to be a show-off-Eliza-Dushku episode. Too much emo-chick stuff going on.

I think one of the reasons the missions in the first 3 episodes are less than gripping is because they are all very small scale. Small scale is fine, but it has to be where the viewer can relate to the situation and characters. If going for small scale it needs to be intense and very carefully made. Emo rock star stomping around in a huff... no. Just no.

I'm all for the whole bit where the Actives are hired out for dubious purposes, but so far its a glorified brothel that occasionally does other stuff too. One episode out of 3 that is good, two so far that are pretty average.

Although pleasing to the eye, they're going to need something more than showing off skin each episode to stop this heading to Cancellation Corner.

Always thought it was interesting that despite the fact that Joss seems to be a bit of a feminist - he does like getting his chicks showing their stuff quite a bit.

The episode itself was awful in terms of a self contained story, however we did get some movement on the overall storyarc, and more from Echo being able to adapt and learn outside her imprint, and remembering things.

Needs more speed, less character creation from now on, otherwise, not impressed.

First episode should've pumped out atleast 3 or 4 personalities.

Second, worked better.

Third, back to "touched by an angel" character creation and growth.

There isn't enough contrast when each character of Echo is emotional, but still kick-ass.

Bit disappointed at the moment, could've done a LOT more with the concept, but...never know.

Also am i the only one tired of the "corporation, secret, one got away so we can dangle it infront of the audience and maybe bring back" thing?

Personally, I'd pop a virus in the computer that controls the brain programming and get some interesting abberant behaviour happening when they are Active. Link it to a arc plot and you've got potential for real fun.

Lets face it, Joss needs me on this one :D

This is getting a bit like the Star Trek movies where the even numbered ones are the good ones.

I watched episode 4 today and there was some plot thickening. The nice part was that in the remainder of the episode everything happened because of the rather interesting unveiling of something unexpected. Script still not quite up to Joss's best, but improving generally.

Desperately trying not to give anything away as I''m not sure how to do the spoiler thingy :D
