This wont get funded for 1 simple reason. Space.

How the fuck are you gonna fit everyone on the planet if no one dies from age!

Also how much will this cost us?

legalize murder;) clone stalin, hitler, vlad III, dr. shitman and all the other mass murderers, and give them... a licence to kill!

and close down all hospitals, burn everything to do with medicine

free guns for all and finally free heroin(and other hard drugs)

viola, apocalypse for all, and remember vote psyco for world leader:D

Interesting reads

Our Posthuman Future - Francis Fukuyama (non fiction)
Holy Fire - Bruce Sterling (Fiction)

and ofc brave new world

The immortality thing seems a little far fetched
I think people living longer is a much bigger concern.

Pretty much anyone who reads FH is gonna have a hard time retiring from employment considering the aging population in the west.
We all gotta work longer and pay more taxes for those fucking baby boomers that had all that fun in the sixties.

Biotechnology is gonna have a huge impact on our lives, and not all for the better.
This sort of thing is not gonna be available to joe shmoes like you or me.

If anything humanity will probably evolve into two seperate species, shmucks like you and I who work, pay taxes, have a couple of kids then die of cancer or a stroke a few years after we retire.

And then those that can afford to pay for longevity treatments, and have designer babies that will be smarter, funnier and better looking those left to chance, the alpha males/females of the brave new world.

Born with those advantages it really wont be hard for that caste to retain and acumulate wealth/influence, which will accelerate the stratification of society.

Whilst your grandchildrens' children will keep on having to do the best with what nature has given them.

I could ramble for hours
but the bottom line is

next time you met a rich guy
kick him in the head Kev!!! :p
