Talisman the board game rocked !! : P

Heh - wondered who'd mention this - aye it was pretty cool though it had some odd expansions like the one with space marines lol.

There was an even older boardgame that was basically a version of a fighting fantasy book - something about a mountain? cant remember but was ok :)

I've been playing the tabletop Warhammer for years. Must be about 15 or so I think. Started with an Orcs & Goblins army, and always lost to my brother who played Empire. Nowadays I'm playing mostly Wood Elves, but the occasional Ogre Kingdoms army when I really feel like thumping someone.

im 40 , i played warhammer since i was 18 ,

I remember the battle rules when
a)
when vampire counts with screaming skull catapults and skellies with bows
and crossbows, out shot a 2 rank high elf army with bows (DANESE macabre helped :)
and
B) one unfortunate goblin i was against in a compo and my vampire counts had a screaming catapult, launch it at his bosses unit on turn1, ie i moved 1st.
Caused a panic test - they failed (even with crown of command ld10)
reroll Battle stand - failed , the goblin general and unit routed off table
followed by the rest of the army

Unfortunately rules are back to herohammer again - maybe because GW had a load of special figures to sell from stock

Currently have a
1) Blood Dragon Army with cav and ghouls skirmishers - new rules ruined that one
2) High elf army (designed at the time archers could should in 2 ranks
(had them specially painted as british colonial troops fighting the zulus, even had some skirmishes with mallets and posts to mark out the ranges :) 144 shoting incl shadow warriors could shoot 24 of them in a 3inch gap (because they are skirmishers) oh and 4 bolt shooters and mages

Havent decided to go destruction or ORDER, thinking to go Witch hunter or engineer , but if it was destruction then it would be squig herder or chosen. Probably order though since its dark on both sides anyway.
Was alliance in wow with 7
but the Witch Hunter reminds me off the master bounty hunter class in
starwars galaxies the old version
defo an open RVR server though - awaiting to use my CE code

before warhammer AD&D have the full set of original AD&D manuals incl Fiend folio, even and expert D&D set. and the giant map for one AD&D campaign. Then of course there was PBM games like MIDGARD, VENGEANCE IS OURS (dune based) and LOTR and STARSHIP

Only dabbled with Epic, but got a 40.000ish point Squat army. Golgotha cannons, trains, airships. All painted, and glued some sand on their stands.

Well bought and painted some 40k aswell, but only Space Wolves.

played warhammer FB since 2nd edition in .. 86-87.

played warhammer rpg since 88-89 i think.

i have/had empire, dark elf, wood elf, high elf and chaos armies, all 4000+ points.

i was a beta tester for GW in the 4th edition and helped find bugs and correct them in the dark elf, wood elf, slan and bretonian army lists.

i attended the first 2 warhammer international tournaments in nottingham (20th out of 100 players on the first and 16th out of 256 players on the second).

i`ve been to the gamesworkshop office numerous time for a few days to discuss and play test new stuff with people like jervis johnson, andy chambers and rick priestly, sometimes staying for up to a week in nottingham (i`m from belgium) for that.

i`ve been at home in the place of the perry twins to play a few battles of warhammer historical battles. i`ve been at home in jervis johnsons place and even had him cook dinner for me.

my name appears in the introduction of the warhammer historical battles rules book.

i consider myself a veteran ;)

Warlock of Firetop Mountain, perhaps?

Incidentally, Talisman got reprinted last year with new artwork, quite good fun but as always, if people are slightly unlucky the game can go on for ages....

been collecting and playing since i was 7 :|
At the moment the only active army I have though is 2500pts of Wood Elves, but WAR has got me in the mood again, maybe I'll make a new army with a model based on my character as the general :p

That was it - thanks :)

I think both of those games are biding their time in my garage waiting for my kids to play them :p

Well I spent a huge chunk of my day today undercoating, glueing and filing a greenskin army for my 9 year old so that he can start paining them at the Acadamy in our local Games Workshop. My older kid has a sizable 40K Ultramarine army which he has spent the last couple of months paining.

Me, I play MMorgs, much to old to go back to all of that now.:)

I used to have an undead army in WHFB but were talking like a bazillion years ago now, I had a space marine army for WH40k aswell. Had a bunch of the "mini" tabletop games like spacehulk, blood bowl and the pewpewzorz spaceship one (too old to remember the name soz).

I still have an orignal first edition of the Warhammer manual along with an origina copy of the D&D manual (not the AD&D) floating about somewhere in the house.

Same here, me and some mates who are in WAR together were playing the first ed of Warhammer paper 'n dice rpg... see... only 12-13 years ago now ^^

Something rotten in Kislev!

The whole Enemy within campaign was great, I enjoyed Death on the Reik and Shadows over Bogenhafen - played the lot with my group before we ended up playing PC games n Poker :p

I thought the best thing about that game was the careers system - ratcatcher - trappings - ratters pole with d6 dead rats, sling and ammo, small and vicious dog -lol!

Or the student career with a small percentage chance of acually learning some academic skills and a far larger chance of becoming an alcoholic - it wasnt a system that took itself too seriously :)

<strokes first edition hardback copy> :)

Ahh the good old days eh Rynnor... :ninja:

A loong long time ago....

How do you remember these things? I can remember playing, but none of the detail...! Too much of this methinks :drink:

I still remember playing tabletop battle around your house... a good what 15.. 20 years ago hehe...

I loved the tabletop battle... think i fell in love with my Elfy army :D

Was not that keen on the Roleplaying version... think we just had a rubbish DM... oh wait...;)

That and someone who insisted on playing a halfling who insisted on wearing only a thong... who whipped it off to use as a sling in battle... or was that just some bad midget porn dream I had :m00:

Sold most of my Games Workshop stuff last year - ranged from 1986-1992 Warhammer / Warhammer 40k armies and so on - made a fortune on ebay, but was still sad to see it go.

Sensibly, I kept Talisman 2nd Ed with all expansions, plus my original Warhammer FB and Roleplay rulebooks from 1987 and my entire Orc / Gobbo army, Harboth's Orc Archers and all - still got to wash my hands after I've mucked about with the miniatures!

Kept Bloodbowl and Space Hulk because I'm a sentimental git.

I reckon they should bung real Goblin Fanatics as playable toons in Warhammer Online
